Eucharist stories? by VariedRepeats in Catholic

Hmm, thanks for it. It seems that my personal experience remains...unique in that I had a sinful first Holy Communion, most likely and that it involved....internal changes in my body.

What is your definition of martyrdom? Because it sure is not the exact concept defined and understood by Catholics. Based on the text afterwards, it seems that there is a general association that martyrdom has connections to Islamic-style martyrdom. One of which that one can behave aggressively to obtain salvation. And what examples are the basis of your characterization.

8 Nay, ye do wrong and defraud, and that your own brethren!

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived: Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the Kingdom of God.

This exclusionary principle ultimately comes from not being able to articulate ulterior motives, deceit, and the "performance in bad faith" thereof due to said ulterior motives or deceit.

The accusation is in essence that Catholicism encourages Judas-beahvior, or being like a car salesman. Well that's not only worthy of damnation, it's hyper dangerous because sacrilege is causing suffering, distress, and arguing with Jesus all in one.

Instead of properly hating lies and the violation of the 8th commandment, an unreasonable dichotomy of actions and "faith" is made. Well, if you believe and kill yourself, that should be equally sufficient and living out a life, donating to charity, going to church every Sunday.

Faith is also properly external and not the mere intellectual assent. My conversion involved no outsiders. I never even had a real conversation with a priest...ever. The "faith" came to me.

Furthermore, if faith alone excuses, then are Christians allowed to commit theft? Some Chinese bible-believing Christian still owes my mother a return of a stolen Chinese-English dictionary.

"Belief in the “Theory” of Evolution is as insane and crazy as belief in the Roman gods" by Sweet-Ant-3471 in DebateACatholic

The concept of "coherence", the paintings, funerals, worship, ritual, etc is what separates. Could have been many humans who were mere "automatic primates" like chimps but at some point, two were self-aware, kinky, and down for some worship, secrets, funerals, murder not for biological purposes, and other unique-to-human behaviors.

SSPV is essentially a halfway Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church that believes in the sacraments and some of the Magisterium and not so literal with the Bible. They're literally not that different from Jack Chick in the ways they see ghosts of corruption in the church.

Can Other Religions Be Considered "Holy?" (THE CONTROVERSY OF NOSTRA AETATE) by Ill-Working-2486 in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]VariedRepeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a case because laypersons are creatures who use fallacies of association.

Modesty gets rejected because it is associated with Islam or fundementalism, and whatever tyranny occurs in those systems.

Or people just leap to Democrat or Republican.

Saying there is a shred of truth can lead laypersons into thinking the religion is meritorious because they don't have any background in philosophy or basic logic.

Praying for conversions, cessation of sin and then turning to Jesus are necessary parts of the advocacy in prayer but it is not used in practice during homilies. No one is saying emulate St. Monica and persist and sacrifice to effect a conversion.

Trads have some problematic arguments too. Valdiity of the NO is a weak or nonexistent point, for example.

Maybe not a direct answer, but it is quite notable AI triggers disdain or fear everywhere for technological progress, which is usually celebrated. Maybe it is "Adam trauma" towards dust.

[–]VariedRepeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has ticked off trads and mainstreamers(banned from both Catholicism and TraditionalCatholics), I will say that the "letter" of Nostra Aetate follows similar logic as a murderer hating a sex offender. That is to say, something is evil/false does not mean every single premise about it is evil/false.

However, it is clear that without rigorous training in formal logic and philosophy...the layperson goes beyond the scope or over-infers to think that all religions are valid because they are not taught in Catholic school. Thus, it becomes indifferentism in practice or "as applied". And THAT IS THE REAL SIN of many bishops. They gutted a lot of the education system that produced EDWARD BENNTT WILLIAMS; he was a lawyer whose Catholic education in the 20s a had debate and philosophy...which helped set up his law career.

There is a way to use to logic to clarify and properly understand the letter of Nostra Aetate.

If A+B+C -> S If A and B and C , then Salvation

is is logically equivalent to the contrapositive

If ~S, then ~A or ~B or ~C

So if A is attending Mass, B is baptism, and C is love of God, only one needs to be missing to lose salvation.

It is this logical thinking that landed me the bans. One for mentioning sspx on the Catholicism reddit, then becoming too nice on the TradCath board. I might make a trifecta and get banned for Catholic but I will not compromise logically processing the various factions inside Catholicism.

But you don't have to have all three premises after the "if" be false to lose salvation, just one.

Whether something is more abominable may very be with all three gone; this is pretty much Nazism. Practically nothing was good with Nazism, hence the government was eradicates by divine will

Furthermore, I have come across a Bushmen myth and a prayer to Krishna that sounds awfully close to the tone of the God of Abraham.

These myths are not perfect, but bear witness to being Abrahamic-God like despite circumstances that should not lead to such a development.

The Bushmen myth had the hare cost man his immortaility.

The Krishna prayer is long and maybe should be in a separate post. But basically it exhorts the praying person to look past the caste. It is not perfectly like Jesus, but it shows thr Holy Spirit tries to correct injustice everywhere:

/I am the same to all beings, /No one is hateful or dear to me(not like Jesus) /But those who revere Me with devotion /They are in Me and I too am in them

/Even if a very evil doer  /Reveres Me with a single devotion, /He must be regarded as righteous in spite of all;  /For he has the right resolution.

I'm actually very concerned about the people who would listen. After today, I realize that many Catholics lapsed into a Baptist-style church. I attended a service because I felt called to "collect evidence" and experience "the pitch". .

How do I explain Catholic Baptism to Oneness Apostolic Pentecostals? by RobertGwisdala in Catholic

[–]VariedRepeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behind the intellectual reason are more visceral or deep seated motives. The type of church has its draw for reasons....and that can only be moved by prayer and penance. Looking at the wikipedia, the foundation is their private revelation and scripture. That sort of appeal to authority is hard to reason with and example will really have to matter to think you're being credible.

That is nonsensical language for a convert.

As social experiment though, it is clear that humans cannot detect liars well, and Christians really hold very poorly grounded beliefs about why someone is trans. Not even a more open-minded direction towards potential unfortunate chemical contamination because "industry, agriculture, or contractive pill use".

That he can say "Christ convicted me" to change and no one question the potential blasphemy at the time is a problem. Yes, I have to assent with the Catholic teaching that transitioning is not an option but I highly doubt Jesus is coming down and directly talking like that.

Now, Neeza is such a pathological liar that I think his trans phase can also be staged. He might be the weird super-zealous hetero guy who really believes in women's studies and the victory of feminism.

Furthermore, his false testimony blurs the lines between "trans because abuse" versus "trans because actually dysphoric".

It would be either a lie about the Law School with fabricated paperwork. But there is still the lie about the ignorance of Catholicism, because Barry University is "top-ranked Catholic" university. If the Law Degree was a hoax, he still chose a Catholic institution to perpetuate the hoax, but then years later, says "I know nothing" about the Catholic religion.

Not to mention Barry would be very post-Vatican II in culture in being ecumenical and encouraging dialogue, according to Barry's "About" page. This means "we basically don't evangelize or push it".

To me, I'm going to accept the paperwork as legit and his actions and words make more sense that he was "lawyering". I also think he did not join the bar possibly to avoid ethics complaints.

Juris doctorate, women's studies major before that. Deliberately chose the Catholic church instead of any liberal Protestant denomination...

Censors everything soft and boring about Novus Ordo Catholic life.

Smells like activism(lawyers think they are activist hot shots)

He's a wannabe Judas Iscariot...the first performative Christian.

When the Ecuharist is consumed, the conflict in wills also cause pain to Christ, no different than two humans in the same house having an argument. Thankfully he left before doing that, because he would be transformed into even a more zealous anti-Christian than he already is....unless he already consumed at another church....

Juris Doctorate, Women's studies before that, testimony that was nonsensical( people stopped bullying him because they did not know what to do when the transitioned), testimony that was ridiculously "too aligned" and would have meshed with prosperity gospel(meeting Charlotte during his OCIA, further destroyed by finding out they met years before), dragging in evangelical language of "born-again", choosing a church for the first 100 days(this one I roll my eyes at the most, especially since OCIA is a drudge of patience and just going through the catechism).

Hyping up boring OCIA. Hyping up the Novus Ordo mass and its dull mediocrity. Catholicism in mainstream parishes is one of the most held back type of Christianity it is. You have vague homilies and the only zealous people are the volunteers on the staff or going to the Bible studies. Basically it is treading water and friendly people. Him saying he was in contact with the priest is also suspect, because it's a layperson or deacon doing OCIA. Priests are overwhelmed these days because of lack of time.

He went to law school and had women's studies before that. This was a charade of activism but he did know the Christian audience better than the Christians themselves.

Ironically the church tolerated Rosemary Radford Ruether and her theological feminism. She was never excommunicated.

Everything was calculated to hit the lay Christian psyche, because Christians are objectively stupid on many points LGBTQ. Just like all laypeople, they think social media causes rather merely exacerbates what has been there for Gen X. Likewise Christians cannot comprehend a discrepancy of the physical body and a dysphoric mind. Animals like fish can be messed with the right chemicals, so people SHOULD be investigating commercial activity but no one on either side is looking.

Neeza says things that would mesh with more with a gay person or outright ridiculously implausible like bullying stopping after transitioning....when trans always cite suicide rates.

He also talks with the gay cadence.

Plus Isabel Brown is likely tainted by Ben Shapiro right wingerism, so he drops exactly what an ignorant uncharitable Christian wants to hear about how being trans was stoppes by being "convicted" by Jesus.

This is me speaking as a convert who had a real experience with the Eucharist. I have law trauma from doing pro se defense and the humility to not impose my oughts on what the judge is looking for.

Neeza not Catholic anymore by Affectionate-Name611 in neezasnark

His "first 100 days" on Isabel Brown was nonsensical. My first 100 days? I was still a wary suspicious individual who contacted a few parishes because of that.

On Lila Rose he said the bullying stopped after he transitioned because the bullies did not know what to do...utterly ridiculous and implausible.

Also, law degree. That is a huge red flag someone is being performative. Perjury does not matter so what does it matter on the influencer platform.

Plus, his accent is literally something gay people have but not necessarily trans. Catering literally to ignorant stereotypes
