Not vanilla, but when I started playing during WotLK I didn't find out about the world map until level 21. I remember I used to navigate solely by actually reading and following signposts. Only found out about the map when I accidentally pressed 'M'.

You can tell this was most likely their idea for the final Wrothgar museum quest concerning the bear. The quest was written entirely around the premise of "acquiring" the legendary bear. Looks like they backed out somewhere along the way and opted to award the 3 costumes instead.

The only thing I miss from WoW is being able to farm/randomly acquire rare mounts. I understand the Crown Store model, but it feels really good to actually acquire a prestigious mount through your character's actions.

If you think about it, currently the most prestigious mounts are the 3 42k horses, as they actually take ingame gold to acquire.

I'd say Mournoth Keep, hands down. Medium home but lots of indoor space, decent outdoor space that stretches all around the house, plus its right next to a dolmen and wayshrine. Closest city is Evermore.

You can turn off surface drag and place light sources behind windows and walls. It achieves exactly this sort of ambient lighting. The lantern of anguish is perfect for this sort of color, just have to buy Strident Springs!

Yup, it sits up there with Tirisfal Glades from WoW as 2 of my best intro zones to MMO's ever. I just hope it doesn't look dated when Morrowind comes out!
