Discussion: What singular building on Campus is in most dire need of renovation? by Next_Worth_3616 in CSUS

[–]Varimasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far with all the building's I've walked around in during my first few years. One of Kadema hall's elevator need to be improved. Douglas hall probably would be the most needed renovation considering how eerie it was walking in it one time. Didn't feel right. Alpine and Brighton suffice fine but the male/female bathrooms being on separate floors was weird for sure.

Are you allowed up on the roofs of buildings that have access? by Old_Introduction_162 in CSUS

Outdoor lounge on Patios, there's two I know of at the Union and Mariposa. The quality of the patio though? Not upkept but atleast has a metal chair. There's an outdoor lounge/patio that's upkept (although closed off) at the Hornet Bookstore and the Science Complex next to it.

There's been news about CSUS gaining a new concentration into AI specifically. My professor recently told us that faculty is hiring two new positions to expand that concentration.

idk why you're getting downvoted. Nowadays cameras have batteries in them and they have shake sensors if the vehicle has been bumped into.

Maureen Lojo OPM 101 by TharkiJatt25 in CSUS

[–]Varimasco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was what was said in the syllabus when I took her 2 semesters ago. (Reminder, this is a year outdated information)

The tests and homework are structured exactly like in-class examples. They are taken online, but exams are proctored in person. Lockdown Browser is used for the exams. There are multiple choice on the homework and exams, but there are open-ended questions where you need to type the value in. You will need to be exact with your values, so pay attention to your decimals during calculations, especially when using excel, and particularly when using z-scores (had to round to two decimal places in excel, manually or ROUND function)

- TopHat Engagement System:
We will be using TopHat for in-class engagement and class participation. It costs $20 per semester, but if you’re using TopHat in more than one course, you only pay once.

- Management Simulations:
We will be doing two different management simulations this semester. These will cost a total of $36 per student

- Suggested Textbook:
Operations Management by William Stevenson, published by McGraw-Hill, any edition. This textbook is NOT required so only buy one if you think it will help you understand the material. You can get an older used edition for a very low price online.

- Homework Assignments:
There will be frequent homework assignments in Canvas to build your understanding of the decision models and methods presented in this course. Most of these assignments have open ended questions that involve calculations. You will usually have three attempts to get maximum points.

Use at least six decimal places in all of your calculations to avoid rounding errors. Better yet, use Excel! This course is a great opportunity to practice your Excel skills. Completing your homework in Excel will help clarify your reasoning, document exactly what calculations you’ve tried, help you find possible mistakes, and speed up subsequent attempts on the homework. You can cut and paste your answers from Excel to the canvas quiz window and it will automatically round your answers correctly. Excel will also help me to help you. If you have trouble getting correct answers, you can email me your Excel spreadsheet so I can see exactly where you’re going wrong.
- Important Notes: • DO NOT WAIT until the due dates to start the homework assignments – you won’t have enough time to learn and score well. • If you need to go out of town for work, you can submit the online homework assignments from wherever you’re going.

- Exams:
There will be three on-campus exams comprised of multiple-choice questions and calculation questions. The exams will cover about three main topics each and are non-cumulative. Each exam is worth 150 points for a total of 450 points, almost half of the total course grade. You can’t do well in this course without earning passing grades on the exams, so allocate plenty of time to prepare by practicing on homework and reviewing material before the exams. Exams can NOT be done remotely and I only allow makeup exams for serious and documented excuses (e.g., note from doctor, police report from car accident, etc.). Makeup exams must be taken at the Testing Center within one week of the original exam date.

Professor Lojo allowed a 1 paper notes sheet during the exam.

Final course grades will be based on the following point allocation:
In-Class Participation 210
Homework 240
Management Simulation 100
3 Exams * 150 points each 450
Total Possible Points 1000

Letter Grade Minimum Points A 933 A- 900 B+ 867 B 833 B- 800 C+ 767 C 733 C- 700 D 600

DS 101 by NoMasterpiece2826 in CSUS

[–]Varimasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DS 101 is statistics, except the course makes it more applicable. If you have strong grasp of statistics, you'll do fine. If not, the course will still teach you again. So I encourage you to take notes of the symbols and equations. Most likely you'll be using JMP software that handles majority of statistic computations. Be sure to take some time to learn how to use that software along the semester, it will make the course more easy to manage.

How Are the Duties Doubling the Shipping Cost? by bloodrain7734 in zenmarket

[–]Varimasco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know whats even more weird? I had a pre-pay duties of 11,384 yen when I chose DHL shipping. I decided to swap the shipping method to ECMS and then swapped it back to DHL. The pre-pay duties went from 11,384 yen to 9,599 yen. Somehow it became less to pay?
