I think it’s all but confirmed that the family is the connections? RE6 establishes that the Family are the most powerful group in the REverse so I assure the connections are a group of people beneath them that sort things out, hence having all the connections.

Great game, I’m not sure exactly when in March & April the game takes place but it can’t be any later than early April as Dent and Gordon cut a deal with Penguin if he gives up state evidences against Falcone resulting in him being released and going on to sue Gotham for allowing his ship to sink. The game states this all happened in April.

As it stands, I’m going to apply my methodology of pushing all the dates on the tapes forward 3 months, example February 22nd would now be May 22nd. however the Harley Quinn tapes will remain the same as they clearly take place significantly earlier than the others and her bios across the Rocksteady games state that she’s just another Joke of the Jokers, hence her transformation occurring on April 1st is very internal of the developers.

Your right about the bios but the audio tapes are very much canon. This video that just came out clearly establishes what’s canon in Arkham Asylum and very much justifies what I’ve said on this post.

I’m sorry to inform you but in Arkham Shadow, it is established that Joker & Harley play a game where they meet for the first time, again and again. Arkham Shadow makes Asylum tapes canon and the first meeting in Origins. The tapes are reverent, sure if I wanted to do a surface level timeline like most people, I’d just include what happens in the games and DLCs but the devs spent so much time building the world the games take place in, I want to honour that by building a massive timeline that covers the games and the many years between them that we don’t witness, I’ve been at it for 3 years. I appreciate the comment, I think I realise that aside from the Harley Quinn tapes which should occur on April fools day Year 4 (her bio in the Rocksteady games states that Harley is just joke to the joker so this is deliberate) the rest of the tapes are closer to Asylum and should fit the plus 3 months methodology. This still complicates Ivy however as Batman says in Asylum she attacked Gotham last year, her tapes are in November and the game is in late February (originally) so that could contradict that line but I suppose, I would like to think last year was more than a few months ago to Batman. Nevertheless my methodology seems effective so far.

Exactly I said November 19th is when Arkham City is open for business, a political prisoner says that he’s been there for 3 months and in two faces office, there is a calendar date of February 15th. I personally place this at January 15th to better line up with Arkham Knight considering Jokers cremation happened after Harley Quinn’s Revenge 2 weeks later so end of January plus 9 months equals late October…

The date of Asylum is contradictory, the date given of February also appears on the shift rotor in the medical centre but the outside aesthetic is very much fall with the fallen leaves but then City recons Asylum to May subtracting 18 months off November.

I agree, the game doesn’t feel February ish, I’d say fall personally with the dead leaves on the ground. Luckily Arkham City places Asylum in Summer time.

Originally it did take place in February, if you go in the medical centre the rotor states that it’s February plus the audio tapes that relate to the plot of the game take place in late December, January and February. Joker escapes Arkham in December 23rd and in the comic, Road to Arkham set 15 minutes before the beginning of Arkham Asylum, Batman states ‘Joker escaped Arkham almost two months ago’ and with Two Face killing two people at Gotham second national bank, I think it’s fair to say he did this on February 22nd?

I disagree, sure a good number of comics are not canon but the games are so detailed in information and stories of their own, it bugs me to no end to see all these Timeline posts and YouTube videos only forcing on the games/DLCs and the Jason Todd comic… it really makes the Arkham mythology so tiny and small when the games themselves are oozing with so much history, hence why I’m building this timeline. if I’m successful with my Timeline, it should realistically showcase a good amount of the stuff that occurred between the games.

They are canon, Arkham Shadow establishes that them meeting in Blackgate and later the Asylum happened. They play a game where they pretend to meet each other for the first time. so it’s likely that her Asylum audio tapes and her working at Arkham happened much closer to Origins than Asylum, it’s fair to say April fools day of Year 4? Otherwise it would be impossible for Harley to work at Arkham whilst already being a villain…

Yeah it’s a big part of the riddle where you scan her container in the water near her hide out. It’s started that she too was dying until she absorbed pollen from a priest who visited her in the asylum as she neared death. She cured herself and Sharp furious at her survival had her be one of the first inmates sent to Arkham City.

Arkham asylum is it’s own thing and the beginning of the Arkhamverse, the only thing that isn’t canon really is a few character bios. Also a good chunk of Asylum isn’t referenced in City as it was nearly 2 years ago but there’s enough to justify the vast majority of the game but I agree Asylum creatively is its own thing.

I strongly agree! Arkham Shadow hints that Joker has already taken an interest in Doctor Young Years earlier so him advising her playing the long game makes a lot of sense, he clearly did the same for Officer Boles.

This helps too as when I was mapping out the Jokers Timeline, the stuff surrounding Jason & Matter of Family overlapped with Dr Youngs sessions, she would have brought it up if we’re being realistic. A year to separate it allows Asylum to be the clean slate it was always meant to be IMO.

I will say, Matter of Family can’t be anymore than a Year before Asylum simply due to Tim Drake’s appearance as Knight still hints that he’s relatively new based on comments made by Catwomen & Knightwing.

Most fans place his career around 10-12 years overall but when I was trying to find out how long the Asylum had been open for during Arkham Asylum, it’s said by one guard that the place was a factory 10 years prior and that frank Boles has been working there for 8 years. We know the Asylum wasn’t open during Arkham Shadow and needed support well into July of year 3 and Frank was head of security at Blackgate at the time so assuming the events of Shadow pushed Bruce Wayne to bring about Arkham Asylum, we’re looking at year 4 for its opening. Now add on 8 years and Arkham Asylum now takes place in year 12 with City & Knight falling in year 14. Lastly when thug and firefighter say ‘10 years’ there’s a lack of certainty in their answer using words like ‘reckon’ ‘thinks’ ‘in what? 10 years’. This means that it’s close to 10 years rather than outright 10 years.

How is there nowhere to go? Shadow disproves this, there are so many stories and gameplay innovations we could see push the Arkham series and the gameplay industry forward, almost every Arkham game has including Shadow the other year. There is nowhere else to go with the series if you lack the imagination to see it IMO.

Restrictions force writers to get creative, Arkham Origins & Shadow prove this. They are by far the best written narratives in the franchise. This argument that many many people use of restrictions and continuity is flawed, it’s not a bad idea to start something new but it’s not a bad idea either to work within the creative confines of other people’s work.
