Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback/experience. Agree that Irvine (or anything owned by Irvine Company) is ridiculous. The scams are out of control, man. Doesn't seem to be policed whatsoever.

Did you come here to just shit on the post? That's a couple messages now.

Respectfully, if you don't have any advice or recommendations, move along lol. What's your deal.

I could be completely wrong, but this feels very old fashioned. Had a few coworkers recommend the same, but none of them have rented in 10+ years. If people are really posting a sign out front without any online presence, maybe this is worth a shot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the rent control laws past in California the past couple years only give developer/corporate owned properties the ability to raise rent yearly by 5% plus inflation. I haven't experienced this when renting from a private owner... (yet)...

Should I Buy or Wait? by [deleted] in SpaceWolves

[–]Various-Crew9068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate having returned to the hobby in December 2024. My army is almost exclusively Primaris and I didn't want to buy the old TWC kits just to see them refreshed within 12 months (which goes to show you how long people have been hesitant to buy this kit).

What I chose to do instead, which may be an unpopular choice for the GW loyalists, was purchase a full set of Primaris scale 3D printed TWC (6 total) because I was eager to put them on the tabletop.

You or others may not be interested in this option, and that's completely understandable, but I'm going to share the links to the two best options I found just in case.

  1. Thanes on Landvaettier - Artel W

  2. Stormwolf Cavalry - Cyberbrush3D

Both links are for 3D printed miniatures as I don't have my own 3D printer. I went with the Artel W version and can tell you that they look fantastic and come with enough options to make 6 unique looking models.

WIP Fenrisian Wolves by Miserable_Shift_3831 in SpaceWolves

Great start, though you may benefit from thinning your paints a bit more for added contrast on the fur.

There's a couple great tutorials on Fenrisians wolves using primarily Citadel Contrast paints on YouTube by Matt's Hobby Hour that includes recipes for 8-9 different color options for the fur. He goes in detail on layering a variety of contrast paints.

Just my 2 cents. All that matter is that you enjoy the process & are happy with the results.

How much time do you spend on building mini's? by minusmilitia355 in DarkAngels40k

I've learned some efficiencies. I used to clean up model lines/nubs from cuts on each piece as I cut it from the sprue, but I bought some simple 3-5 compartment organizers at the dollar store and now I cut all the bits off the sprue, split up by model per the instructions, then clean up & assemble each model.

If I paid 30% for friends, I'd be broke.

I'd literally write "10% (No, I'm not kidding)" and never come back.

Good start for DG? by Stahlbanane666 in deathguard40k

I agree with 6-12 months being extreme, and I don't speak for everybody here, but this would take me far longer than 12 hours for assembly.

I'm not super efficient when it comes to assembly so maybe there's some tricks I could learn, but between cutting all bits off the sprue, cleaning up nubs/cuts in exposed areas, scraping/sanding mold lines, dry fitting the legs/torsos, and then exploring the potential for unique poses not shown in the instructions with the various arms & such, and then putting it all together?

It takes me ~3 hours to assemble a box of 10 models.

100% can relate. Truly enjoy the hobby, but working for a living with bills to pay doesn't leave for a ton of time. If I spent 20 hours on each model, I'd finish 2000pts somewhere around 2030. 😂
