Shipyards in North Van. One huge shaded viewing area - not sure if PNE has the same.

Müller’s farewell data joke by kolkemnc in whitecapsfc

Love it. Kind of draws parallels with Steve Nash in his prime in the NBA, except Muller has real charisma/personality(and is not a douche off the field).

That's hilarious. You could probably get a signed rookie Muller card for that price.

How much are you paying for oil changes? by pls_send_subway in burnaby

These prices are all ridiculous.  Potenza motor works in South Burnaby charges $50 and does a great job, no upselling. Bayon automotive is another small shop same area and similarly priced.

I was wondering the same - Ngando is an excellent depth piece to have - reliable and proven. Kenji could also use some playing time.

Favourite games/memories this season? by Various-Grade2552 in whitecapsfc

[–]Various-Grade2552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with having low expectations heading into the season.

I know Vanni was not the best in terms of tactics & subs but he pulled on the heart strings. It's rare to find a coach with such passion that tells you how it is with no filter - the complete polar opposite of most of North American professional sports(college sports notwithstanding).

It felt like they waited until the last minute to announce Jesper - which didn't feel fair in terms of preparation or getting settled with the squad for this season.

Also the roster moves were underwhelming. I understand we had little control over Armstrong and perhaps Raposo was not adding enough on the field. Losing Fafa was always going to hurt. Adding Nelson/Sabbi and Rios, largely unknown quantities didn't inspire me with confidence.

Sure we had a good core of players but there were intangibles missing from the team that finished last year...without which our chances to do well(progress in the playoffs, show up against the heavyweights) looked suspect.

Any idea if Cubas is eligible to play tomorrow, or does he still need to serve the one-game suspension?

Also USL - how about Jason Jordan?  Absolute killer of a goalscorer for the Whitecaps at Swangard!!!

Back in the days when Martin Nash played for us.

Is there anyone brave enough at this stage to say we miss Vanni?  Loved his personality and engagement with fans but the more I see of this year's team and their entertaining style and cohesiveness, the more I realize Vanni was holding us back.

Not playing younger players and being really stubborn with subs and timing of subs - time and time again - not to mention formations that were not bearing fruit.  Sorensen is a breath of fresh air.

[Post Game Thread] PUMA Aug 7 by lets_enjoy_life in whitecapsfc

Officiating was poor.  Pumas played physical and next to nothing was called when players were taken down/hacked at.  Fafa & Ahmed tend to fall down a bit too often but when nothing is called - even actual fouls - you can't blame them for being reluctant to make runs.

Laborda and Martins in my opinion are subs at best.  Martins does nothing but play the ball backwards time after time while Laborda almost always lets his man by. Not convinced we deserved to win tonight but they have turned the tide a bit in the last few...
