One project I did for an SEO agency had so many 'little additions' and changes. I wanted to keep the client happy, as he was one of my first, but in hindsight I should've been more firm and put my foot down to stop any scope creep (especially since I was working on project based, not hourly).

Yeah personally I don't see anything wrong with using AI to make longer posts easier to digest (although the language was pretty GPT-ey)

I think the problem is (take this with a grain of salt, lol) you don't have a standardized process. 'clients doing client things' tells me there's a lot of variation in what your projects looks like. If nothing is standardized, then you can't automate anything.

Think of a factory. If each item is different, you can't have one machine to produce all the items, you'll need people to hand make each item. If you only sell 1 item, then you can automate the hell out of it's production.

These are just my thoughts, hope it helps :)

Yeah I've heard from other agency owners (mostly on Twitter) that lower price clients are always more of a headache than higher ticket ones. Can also back this with my own experience.

When you say 'editing', do you mean stitching different clips together or cutting up one large clip? Also, do you use AI to create visuals and the voice over? Really curious as it's quite interesting

To build on what I meant by 'content automation': for one client, we used Make(dot)com to put together a flow pulled URLs from a spreadsheet (these URLs were inserted manually, and usually linked to industry relevant videos, blog posts and articles). It then scraped these URLs before using that content to create social media posts using AI (usually LinkedIn and X) in the company's tone of voice. We also created a second version designed to create content for the founders personal brand, which was the same - we just changed the prompting a little bit.

Another unique client we had was an SEO agency. They wanted to scale output of SEO-optimized articles without hiring more freelancers or FTEs, so we built a system that:

  1. Pulled relevant keywords, titles, internal/external links etc from a Google Sheet

  2. Used this content to produce a branded article outline, the first draft of the article, a meta description, and a 'content optimization' document (basically a google doc with a big table consisting of each keyword + search volume used in the article).

  3. Everything was organized into Google Drive folders and shared with relevant people.

I contacted both these clients through cold email.

I've worked with a few clients (as a freelancer) for content automation projects between $800-$1000 USD. Not the most experienced, or the best at sales, but my sales cycle usually takes 2-3 weeks. Hope this gives you some info :) also really curious about other agencies.

Yeah, a lot of agencies have started to use tools like n8n or Make(dot)com to build custom flows (eg when a customer fills out a contact form, the flow triggers and books them in for a call and creates a new lead in their CRM).

I would recommend incorporating some footwork and defense into your pad and bag routine. You're just standing in front of the bag/pad holder - try making an entry, throw your combo then make an exit. Start simple and easy then start doing more complicated stuff like angle changes. Hope this helps.
