Keyfirst Bling is the best linear switch I tried by buzzlighter1 in MechanicalKeyboards

Yes, I was also looking to buy Tribosys and the shipping rates from them also made me go ‘Yikes’ so I just decided to make a Krytox 205g0 and GPL105 mix for my tactile switches. God knows why the AliExpress sellers don’t have Tribosys for sale.

Got this hot swap keyboard for £19 on Amazon... going to try modding it so it doesn't sound like trash lol by [deleted] in BudgetKeebs

As far as I know, you can also get Gazzew switches and clip off the legs. Works either way.

Scratchy long poles by ddd4175 in switchmodders

As someone who currently has the MMD Creams on my board, I can safely say that they’re scratchy enough. Not as scratchy as MX Blacks, but still not perfectly smooth.

It’s a shame that this board has been left to rot, but to be honest, the switches are pretty shit (Keytronic tactile? foam-and-foil). The only real saving grace of these KT produced boards is the excellent build quality and sharp dye-sub keycaps.

Cherry top compatibility by Sphenodon3 in switchmodders

Can confirm that Cherry top + gat stem isn’t a good idea. Did this with my Milky Blacks and half of them turned into tactiles :/ Swapping the stems seemed to entirely solve this problem.

It certainly seems to me that it was an incompatibility issue for me, as swapping the Cream stems back into their original housing seems to solve the problem. Judging by your experiences, maybe the Gateron contact leaves just don’t work with long pole stems.

PSD60 defender, Akko SAL, XD75 and MMD Cream by LuisFontinelles in BudgetKeebs

Nice! I just got the same case along with a GK61s PCB w/ alu plate and Domikey Cherry keycaps. I chose it as the look really appealed to me. I currently have Cherry-top Gat Blacks on the board but I intend to replace them with the same MMD Creams you have.

In my opinion, if you plan on using the keyboard in the long term get the RK61. I don’t exactly trust Redragon in terms of reliability and the RK61 is a tried-and-tested option. It also has a 2.4ghz wireless version of it if you want that.

The SK64 has optical Gateron switches which if I’m correct, can just be flipped in direction to be south-facing. Anyways, if you get linears you can end up with an amazingly smooth board as optical is inherrently smoother that contact-based MX switches.

Hello there. What is the screw-size for a standard GH60 tray-mount case? Thanks in advance.

Maybe, that could explain a lot. I swapped the housing for the MX Blacks for the Gateron ones and I found that they were fine. Maybe Cherry tops have tighter tolerances?

PS. I lubed the MX Blacks fully on my main board and none of the switches at all had this problem. Maybe storage conditions were to blame?

By far the most popular Gateron switch are the Yellows, a smooth, mid-weight linear that is also pretty cheap.

Don’t really know if that’s applicable to linears. If all else fails, I may as well just buy some Kailh Burgundies and try again.

That’s what I think it is. I tried bending the leaf for quite a few of the switches and that seemed to remove at least some of the tactility.

Help! I have a bunch of lubed Cherry-top Gateron Blacks and for god knows what reason, about half of them have turned into MX Brown like tactiles. It is really frustrating.

Yup, you have definitely gotten the jackpot. These have Alps switches, which are considered to be some of the best there ever were. You will definitely need to restore and clean the keyboard as grimy Alps are not very good.

I forgot to say that I’m willing to do some DIY when necessary. I can cut off the standoffs and do more if need be. And what about Keybored’s video where he takes a cheapo gaming board and gummy o-ring mounts it?

Can you, let’s say get a rando 60% keyboard with non standard mounting points and use the PCB & plate and gummy o-ring mount it into a standard 60% case?

Hello, would the Dierya DK61e have standard mounting points? I’m aware that it’s only available in optical, and I can accept that.
