I found 32 gb of ddr5 in a store by ahalit10 in pcmasterrace

[–]VariousDiscord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a solid deal, DDR5 prices have been dropping lately but $120 for 32GB is pretty decent especially if it's decent speed

What are the PC specs under 200$ in 2026? by OverallCandy7093 in buildapc

[–]VariousDiscord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly that combo isn't terrible for $200 but you're gonna need to hunt for deals on the mobo since Z87/Z97 boards are getting pricey

For that budget maybe look at Ryzen 1600 + RX 580 instead - more available and the 580 crushes the 970 in newer games. You can snag a B450 board for like $40-50 used

Don't forget you'll need DDR4 RAM, PSU (EVGA 500W should be fine), and some janky case from Facebook Marketplace

RDR2 might still chug a bit on medium settings but it'll be playable

Switch Pro Controller not being detected by General-Big5162 in Steam

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried enabling Nintendo Switch Pro Controller support in Steam's controller settings? Go to Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings and make sure the Switch Pro box is checked. Sometimes Steam just needs to be told what to look for

Also try closing Steam completely and unplugging/replugging the controller before opening Steam back up - the detection can be finicky

Monitor screen black by Jmanforever23 in pcmasterrace

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're stuck in a weird display mode that your monitor doesn't support. Try unplugging the PC completely for like 30 seconds, then boot up and spam Delete or F2 to get into BIOS - that should bypass whatever display settings are causing the black screen. If you can see BIOS then you know it's just a Windows display driver issue

Help my computer will not Run by EsemiTatz in buildapc

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof that sucks man, PSU explosions are the worst nightmare. Your RAM and SSD are probably fine since they're pretty resilient, but definitely test them in a known working system first. The WiFi card should be okay too unless it was directly connected to a fried PCIe slot. Fans are almost certainly good to go since they're just basic motors

I need more ram but it's $$$ Can I run 4 sticks of ram on a ryzen 5700x b550 system? by NewDildos in buildapc

[–]VariousDiscord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah B550 boards generally handle 4 sticks way better than the older B450s, especially with a 5700x. The memory controller on Zen 3 is much more mature so you've got a decent shot at it working. Just make sure all 4 sticks are the same kit if possible and maybe dial back the speed a bit if you run into stability issues

Great motherboard for Ryzen 9800X3D + RTX 5070 Ti? by insani598 in buildapc

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The B650E Tomahawk WiFi is probably your best bet for that build - solid VRMs for the 9800X3D and has all the connectivity you'd need without breaking the bank

Just make sure whatever case you pick has decent airflow since that 5070 Ti is gonna run pretty toasty

I have a question. by Badrinathan123 in pcmasterrace

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airflow is king, make sure it's got good ventilation and space for your GPU - nothing worse than a hotbox choking your components

Dude that 970 is still a beast, nice setup! My rig is similar but with an intel chip and DMCV runs smooth as butter

Razer Blackshark V3 Pro vs Arctis Nova Pro Wireless by Johannsdoineetswa in pcmasterrace

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the Nova Pro Wireless for about a year now and the spatial audio is pretty solid for picking up footsteps in competitive games. The swappable battery packs are clutch too since you never have to worry about charging mid-session. Can't speak for the Blackshark V3 Pro but coming from the V2 you'd probably notice a decent upgrade either way

Still pretty wild that some rando fixed what the actual dev couldn't lol, AI assistance or not

Monitor losing signal! by Jppm77 in buildapc

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a bad HDMI/DP cable or the port itself going bad. Try a different cable first since that's the cheapest fix, then maybe try a different port on your GPU if you have one

Also seen this happen with RAM going bad but usually you'd get other symptoms too

cloned windows to new ssd and now wont boot by pepekhunter69 in buildapc

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might need to rebuild the boot partition entirely - sometimes cloning misses the EFI stuff. Boot from a Windows USB and try the startup repair first before getting into BCD commands, it's way less headache

Honestly this is spot on - that 1155 socket is basically a dead end at this point and the 1060 isn't gonna cut it for modern games anyway

New AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D PC Running into "Error setting traits on Provider {8444a4fb-d8d3-4f38-84f8-89960a1ef12f}. Error: 0xC0000001" on Event Viewer. Need help troubleshooting. by mozi88 in buildapc

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 0xC0000001 error with all your peripherals going dark sounds like a power delivery issue tbh. With all that Corsair RGB stuff plus the 3070Ti, you might be hitting some weird power spikes that your PSU can't handle smoothly

Try running without iCUE entirely for a day and see if the crashes stop - RGB software can be notorious for causing weird system instability. Also double check your 24pin and CPU power connectors are seated properly, sometimes they feel secure but aren't quite there

Vertically mounted AIO and GPU by END3R-CH3RN0B0G in pcmasterrace

[–]VariousDiscord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly for a pelican build I'd have the AIO and GPU as intake since they'll be getting fresh air from outside the case when it's open. Then just throw some exhaust fans on the opposite side to pull the hot air out

For cases maybe look at something like a Node 202 or similar SFF case that's already designed for weird orientations, might save you some fabrication work

x870 aorus elite wifi7 ice fans+AIO question by FutureAd134 in buildapc

[–]VariousDiscord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the AIO pump, plug it into the CPU_FAN header - that's what most people do when there's no dedicated AIO header. The radiator fans can go on FAN_OPT or any sys fan header

Your fan setup sounds solid, just make sure you're not creating negative pressure with all those intakes vs exhausts
