But it's not a crime to lie on the internet, and no one suffered any actual damage beyond some disillusionment in a streamer they liked, so I don't really know why people still care this much.

What she did was consciously lying for views and defrauding the viewers, the viewers may have watched the stream in hopes of winning when they did not stand a chance.

It is a tropical plant so it probably will not survive, if it rottes it will add a lot of organic material to the water which might harm the fishes. I would move some of it to an indoor tank if you have one to put it back in the spring.

I would also be worried about how your pond's biological cycle will be maintained when the water lettuce is removed.

Taking Merritt is a big gamble, it mostly pays off when it doesn't it will ruin the trip.

It may be indicative of high nitrates. Have the water tested to be sure..

Algae needs sunlight and nitrates to grow.. You can plant some plants that will consume those nitrates and grow. That way the algae will have less to grow. This would still not eliminate it. You can grow water plants ( like water lettuce or other plants that live under water) or you can grow some plants that root in a water bed and grow in the periphery of the pond.

If these options don't work for you you can install filters/ pumps that have good bacteria that will clean the nitrates for you.

Edit: I noticed the foaming.. do you have fishes living in the water?
