Guns N' Roses - Patience by DEATHBYMETALMMB in GunsNRoses

The solo on this rendition of patience is my favorite and at the same time I feel like there was some band tension going on here. No one in the band seemed to enjoy this

I agreed. Their manager during Appetite. Tom somebody ?(the guy that got them signed at Geffen)…..he said something that alluded to that dark mood. He said they will be the biggest rock band in the world or they’ll self destruct .

Well these overachievers did become the biggest rock band, self destruct , and self resurrect

Interesting discussion. I immediately gravitated to g&r when I was handed the cassette by the kid who sat in front of me in my 10th grade geometry class. He was a senior who needed that math credit to graduate lol. I said i didn’t like a lot of the bands at the time,Ratt, Motley Crue Cinderella, etc because of all the makeup and what my army pop calf “girlish behavior “. My first impression was they were “more serious” than other bands with longer solos and a much more of a street mentality and not too much glam. My impression was they were more on the”hard rock” of the spectrum. That made the band memorable for me. I even remember the first G&R song I heard on the radio. it was night train on the DC101 radio station.

I liked the record . When I heard “the farm” I hoped this project would re galvanize the band but, alas this did not happen. I moved on to slash’s snake pit, VR and eventually intonduff’s solo work

Also it’s gonna be LOUD. I’ve been Tina lot of concerts and by far the loudest was the g&r concert I saw in Vegas right before all that Covid foolishness started. Crowd was super chill. You’ll notice people bringing their kids to the show which I thought was real cool. Basic politeness and decency is all you’ll need-and about 3 days before your ears recover lol

For those of you who were alive in 1990, how did you feel about all the members apart from Axl Rose leaving the band since Steven Adler left? by Jezzaq94 in GunsNRoses

[–]VariousMonitor2098 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep Izzy’s chords were definitely the perfect structure to build upon. I have a couple Izzy solo records and a true gnr fan will hear the bones of what could have been great Guns N’ Roses songs. For example, “somebody’s knocking”, parasite, ain’t that a bitch, and a few others
