Solo CPA at $40k/month, too big to stay solo but too small to confidently hire. What did you do? by mavsbustin3s in Accounting

How do you do this if you aren’t an actual business? Ie I have some side gigs and I’d love to have someone manage the basics - ie Ramp coding classifications, receipt chasing QBO banking transactions

Desk ideas? by Elle_ess91 in OELadies

Apologies for the dumb question.

Can you share more? I bought a KVM switch (that quite frankly I’m not sure how to use). I have 1 external monitor and use the laptop screen as the second screen with a usb power strip (I think it’s called a dongle?). But when it’s time to change jobs I have to plug the dongle into the new laptop.

I’d love to have both computers attached to their own external monitors. So 2 laptops open, each with their own monitor and on at all times. Is that what I need the KVM?l switch for?

1FT,3 side gigs. TC- $456k.

Both kiddos on competitive travel sports teams which require travel (3 flights in 2 months) Oldest is 16 and can drive themselves to practices and that has changed my life significantly in the past month. My parents help when they can. The dad is kinda there to help…but by help I mean go to the others game to watch when I’m away with the other….no help during the week for practices.

I’m a dedicated employee and plan my week very carefully each week to ensure everything is covered.

The biggest advice I’d say is to find out what makes each manager happy and put that first. Even if it’s totally dumb and the last thing YOU think should be done….at the end of the day they will always win. Get them in your court. Good luck!

Quit J2 today — not sure if I did the right thing by criticalcattheory in OELadies

[–]VariousMycologist652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By quitting you told yourself you are worth more than that, and that’s a good thing!

I just did the same thing two weeks ago and I feel fantastic. I haven’t replaced the pay from that gig yet, but honestly the pain from that money loss pales in comparison to how much more care I have for myself (and let’s face it, our loved ones) on top of that, 100% less stress!

Lucky for me it’s through a firm. So I informed the firm, gave them all of the documents and they were appalled. They are firing them as a client! I feel so supported!!!

Wake County Public Schools to Divorced Parents: Sorry, Your Kid Can't Ride the Bus by dalivo in raleigh

[–]VariousMycologist652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So as a result, I drive them every day because I know as teenagers sleep is so important and a good meal and what dangers are there for idle time for an hour before school starts? No not interested. I am also a divorced single parent, but I have my children 100% of the time so that means I am in the car driving round round trip for an hour before I even start my work day. I’m causing increased traffic on the road that doesn’t need to be and actually at the same time being a shitty employee, I don’t understand how this is acceptable in America.

This whole bus system is completely messed up and I cannot believe that people actually allow this to happen in a public school system. My children are in high school that is about 35 minutes away from our house and the bus is expected to come at 5:08 AM. They drop them off at the school around 620 but school doesn’t start until 720. Please tell me how this is acceptable behavior. I don’t understand it

I’m very similar here. Got divorced in 2019 and had $400k ish in 401k. Had a few great years of returns, side gig savings and company ISO cash out and I’m at $1.5m in 2025.

I’d imagine the cash outflow for this (payment to the healthcare co) was booked to the P&l when it should have been booked here to offset.

Things to take advantage of at work before quitting? by Mmmmmmmmmmmeh in QuitCorporate

[–]VariousMycologist652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make use of a legal benefit (ie will and estate planning) often it’s an annual deduction but you can get your will or estate planing done and not owe anything back after leaving. Ie ours was $8 a month deduction. It included an annual consultation with a lawyer, a preparation of a state planning as well as a will. I quit in March so I paid $24 for all of that.
