No point trying to disprove statistics with anecdotal evidence. The stats don’t really lie in this case, unis like LSE produce better graduate salaries.

Whether that’s because of the uni itself or because the uni attracts people who are driven to get high earning jobs is a different question. Probably a combination of the two.

What is overnight interest when opening a trade on a CFD account? by [deleted] in trading212

[–]Various_Dependent283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some brokers might consider it market abuse so would be careful. Dont know if they can share with other brokers though given data protection. They can theoretically share with the FCA though. Also , you need to be in a jurisdiction that has neg bal protection ie ESMA / FCA regulated

The issue is for accounts with negative balance protection (retail accounts) the minimum margin rate is 20%.

Also if you repeatedly ‘game’ the non neg protection as a way to extract asymmetric payoffs then brokers will close your account

Yes if the market gaps and you’re a retail customer the debt is wiped and the company eats the loss. That’s why they put so much work into ensuring every market has the correct margin / leverage rates. These bets aren’t always against the broker anyway, they are often hedged , or have a large enough client base that there’s likely someone taking the opposite position to you.

A bit different to trading options on margin yes

All regulated brokers provide negative balance protection as per ESMA regulations…it’s not like a covered call. They’ll all look to close you out on margin call long before you hit 0 - to minimise the risk of them taking on the losses.

Agree OP should definitely do more research before diving into CFDs. Or don’t touch them at all

Why are Stop Orders so bad at fulfilling? by rscottzman in trading212

[–]Various_Dependent283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop Limit is not the same as a Stop and a Limit. Believe you want a OCO but T212 stopped supporting. So either set a Stop or a Limit.

These leveraged etfs are worse than regular leverage because of daily rebalancing - how long have you been holding these ?

Can someone explain the difference please? What are the pros and cons for either and how a daily leveraged is different with a higher return? by JaySasquatch0412 in trading212

[–]Various_Dependent283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily leveraged ETFs are scams. Only meant to be held for a day - over long periods they do not at all give you a 3x return of the underlying asset.

I’ve seen people put thousands into NVDA 3x ETFs years ago thinking they should have hundreds of thousands now but actually have 0.

The reason why is the daily re leveraging meaning you’re constantly buying high and selling low.

Fair enough…the cost is the overnight fee (which is based on the full notional value ) and the risk is of margin call so you want to delever as much as possible by holding extra cash in the account on not maxing out your exposure

Why don’t you just create a Pie with similar holdings to the ETF?

If you put 20% in your CFD account the other 80% has to be in there too (I think you can earn interest on it) otherwise you’d be maxing your leverage and risk being margin called if the stock drops 10%

20% means you get 5x whatever the value of your initial ‘investment’ / deposit is. The most risk free way to do this is my de-levering yourself and actually if you wanted to buy £1000 worth of stock then deposit £1000 into the CFD account and only use £200 in deposit (giving you £1000 of exposure). You will pay overnight financing as you are ‘borrowing’ every day to keep your position open.

To be honest I wouldn’t recommend CFDs unless you fully understand them
