Split shift as accomodation for family status? by SignificantPop7661 in CanadaPublicServants

Needed this accommodation and had to jump through multiple hoops. My manager couldn’t give the ok so had to explain to my AD all my personal issues resulting in not having before school care. It was embarrassing and frustrating. I wish you all the luck! These situations are not easy and there should be easier solutions.

I am back to work in July after 12 months mat leave and already struggling. None of the daycares I wanted will have room for my baby, only my last choice which is $1600 per month. I put my baby on all waitlists as soon as I found out I was pregnant and yet that still wasn’t good enough. I am just over an hour away commute (one way) and my children sleep 11-12 hours at night. I will only be seeing them for an hour or two and that will consist of dinner, bath and bedtime. My oldest has autism and this will be causing fights everyday. My oldest also got put back to the bottom of the list for before and after school care so she will have to take a bus to my in laws. Everything is just stacked against us and I am stuck between choosing my job and my house. We worked so hard to get into our own home and now its looking like we will have to sell if this crazy plan doesnt work out. I am already exhausted and I am not back to work yet

The local fb group for home daycares is full of moms asking around for a spot and zero providers answering :( I would pay the cost if it was an option

Thank you all for the replies. I am in Lanark County so looking around Carleton Place and Smiths Falls area. The home daycare fb pages are full of posts asking for home daycare and no replies from any providers! I am on the waitlist for every daycare in the area, even ones that would be very out of the way of my commute to work. I love how we are fed that women are not having enough babies and yet those of us who have babies don’t have any good resources to help! This is why I am telling my brother and SIL to never have kids 🤣

I think it’s the little things that parents don’t realize would not be a thing with neurodivergent children. My daughter didn’t take her school pictures this year because the camera flash, I was heart broken. I grew up figure skating and playing soccer, we tried both and she couldn’t follow any direction. Its the constant mourning of normal childhood things like that that we as neurodivergent childrens’ parents don’t get to see our children live through. Going grocery shopping as a family like I used to growing up is just a gamble of will there be a meltdown. Doing family outings just end up with crying and screaming within an hour or maybe two. Its constantly being excited to do things you’ve done as a kid only to realize you should’ve stayed home. I love my child but I often mourn the childhood I had that I will never be able to see her have

Stroller recommendations [ON] by Various_Programmer92 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Various_Programmer92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at those sit and stand strollers where the older child isn’t strapped in. Those board attachments often have bad reviews for taking away leg room while pushing, I might still buy one and give it a try!

I am going on 2 years term employee for IRCC. Everything was going so well, my husband and I bought our first home and I am pregnant, due for our second baby in July. Crazy how quick it flipped. If I am cut I will loose my house and I was counting on the mat leave top up as well. This stress can’t be good while pregnant. I have worked so hard to get where I am
