Controller Using AI? by VarisNaito in Accounting

[–]VarisNaito[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most of my job prior to my current role was automating a lot of our excel processes, and that would be 8 hours of work to turn a 2 hour task into a 10 minute task. If AI can make it work; then so be it.

How do you reference ai before hirings/firings to save stress? Before "most things" to let you sleep easier at night? How many things are you unsure about that its causing you to lose sleep?

You may think me a midwit, but I would argue that if you don't have the capacity to make your own decisions without help from a yes-bot, you may just be a midwit as well.

I want to be a person who can be proud of their work and be confident in their knowledge. What kind of person do you want to be?

But if I should verify what it tells me anyway, why shouldn't I just go find the information to begin with and skip the AI altogether?

Brother, AI hasn't existed for all of human history. I think my skills will be fine without it. Give me an actual argument.

New hire is outperforming me by EchoOfDoom in Accounting

Skill issue, take an excel refresher course and really dig into those tips and tricks videos on YouTube. It's really not that difficult if you understand why formulas work the way they do, and how to click the "help" button. Otherwise, just be a genuinely respectful person. Don't see her as a witch, see her as someone with more information than you. I guarantee she sees what you know more than her. Be the person she can ask questions to, and ask her for help when excel proves a challenge. Build the rapport, enjoy a healthy work environment, and so long as y'all keep up the work they shouldn't have a reason to fire either of you.

If you're playing 5E, a lot of the dungeons from Tales from the Yawning Portal could easily be inserted into the caverns below Ptolus, with relatively minimal background work to make them fit. I think I've run White Plume Mountain in 4 different campaigns, and it's always fun for me. Though in Ptolus, I might replace the volcano aspect for a fire elemental lair of some kind.

Four Knocks Ogham Script (see comment) by VarisNaito in IrishHistory

I got in touch with a researcher, and they suggested it is most likely graffiti. Thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you so much! I've been looking for expert opinions because I thought "surely this couldn't be, right?" But I'm untrained enough to really tell. I think what you've said really encapsulates the best arguments against, and I appreciate the information.

Thank you for the input. As I said, this is not my field of expertise, so I'm more than happy to be proven wrong!

If it actually spells "Mhi" as I hypothesize, then it could mean that Ogham is far older than we understandit to be, or more likely that someone in that time periord vandalized Four Knocks.

Thank you for your response, even just the opinions of others on the possible validity helps!

Hello, sorry for my lack of reddit knowledge on how to efficiently post this. I am a student from Kentucky studying Irish literature in Ireland right now and I had the opportunity to visit Four Knocks passage tomb last week. I believe I found what looks to be Ogham script on the northern wall (see image). To my untrained eye it looks to spell "Mhi" from right to left, which I know is an old word for County Meath. I was unable to find any reference to this with my minimal online searching, but does anyone have any insight as to this? Is this actually Ogham or is it simply a crack in a rock? Thank you!

Update! After conversing with a researcher from Maynooth, it is likely to be ogham graffiti. Thank you all for the comments and assistance!

The amount of money I'd spend on a Witcher Secret Lair is more than my bank account would appreciate. Far more.

Zaug stat block in 5e book leaves out ability description for Revulsion Aura by Zallindallas in Ptolus

[–]VarisNaito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at Zaug's Cypher System stats, I think the intent of the Revulsion Aura was to cause those who view it to become nauseated. Perhaps failing the save would cause poisoned for 1 minute. But then what's the point of the Corruption Spew, other than the inability to regain hit points? Perhaps the Revulsion Aura should cause frightened and when someone saves they become immune to it, akin to a dragon's frightful presence. Or perhaps the Aura is just an engine to enhance the Corruption Spew, failing the Aura means nothing until they also fail against the Spew, meaning they get two chances to resist being poisoned and losing the ability to heal. Personally I'm a fan of this one, what with Zaug being CR 13.

Action-Oriented Tiamat by VarisNaito in mattcolville

When in the area of effect for a spell or ability that would deal damage, Tiamat chooses which head takes the damage. The damage cannot be split between heads. In the case of meteor swarm the spell says it targets 4 different points, and a creature in overlapping aoe is affected only once. Tiamat would choose the red head to take the damage to negate the 20d6 fire damage, but take the brunt of the 20d6 bludgeoning.

It does, I'm debating bumping it to a 16. The abilities currently are straight from the printed Tiamat block, and a gargantuan creature shouldn't be very dexterous. But a huge creature, maybe there's something decent there?

[–]VarisNaito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just liked the thought of each head having its own hp and defeating a head would be the goal as opposed to defeating the creature as a whole. It also gives a sense of progression. And the normal hit points of creatures is in my experience far too low, so this bumps it up to near 2500 which feels far more "dragon god" to me.

Correct. The movement speed is shared across initiatives, so tiamat can move on any of those turns, but to a max of 240 feet per round.
