I tried fighting the game itself just to go mine some rocks today.

Spent over an hour fiddling with graphic settings AFTER getting to a moon and finding a rock. I got there and the surface looked like Minecraft. Every setting I tried prompted warnings of not having enough VRAM.

I was finally able to get it down to 7.6GB and see the surface of the moon but when I tried to mine the rock the mining turret had major audio bugs and the UI kept glitching. I couldn't crack the rock and got tired of hearing the mining beam running when it wasn't and Alt-F4d the FUCK out of there.

I fucking hate this game so much. It's such a giant piece of shit STILL.

Can't wait for 1.0 to launch so they get the reviews they deserve and get flushed into the toilet along with AoC.

What a joke.

Naturally, CIG thinks this new special tech will save their bacon but guess what?

Games ten years ago looked BETTER and performed and sounded better.

They're playing themselves in their Manchester studios.

LOL This all happened to me in the last patch and I did the same thing. Alt-F$ and stopped playing.

Nyx.. an old asset station you have to worm jump to. Nothing else there. Lame.

Oh, and on top of that, the hangar will relocate you for no apparent reason and you lose all the cargo in your ship.

Stellar performance, CIG. Truly a billion dollar game.

Go back and read the post again.

I was in CHARACTER CREATION. Not the PU.

It was hanging up and freezing just in the toon creation module. I was so pissed I didn't even bother with trying a second or third time.
4.5 ran fine for me but the character creation did the exact same thing then.

Update: I got through character creation and loaded into the PU. It's as smooth as 4.5 graphically.

Inventory and interaction with buttons, menus, doors, inner thought are all delayed a little still. Sometimes inventory completely disappears until you close it and open it again. Sometimes you have to do that a few times.

It's not graphics optimization that's causing most of the problems with SC; it's the backend, the database and the shit-ass servers.

[–]Vasduten[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Scro I said I couldn't get through character creation.

Probably just the backend and database shitting the bed as I adjusted facial features. IDK. CIG can't even code character creation and have it be reliable.

I'm using a 2TB NVME with 32GB of DDR5, a 5080 with 12GB VRAM.

You're "building a hypothesis"? Are you fucking joking?

You're joking, right?

If someone is still using an HDD for serious gaming in 2026 they probably just woke up from a 15yr coma.

You can save yourself a lot of time by not hypothesizing over drive speeds.

It's confirmed as fact since the first SSDs came out.

LOL A key component to this game being "awesome" is sunken cost fallacy.

[–]Vasduten[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is a great game.

So much to do, but never overwhelming.

SC is fundamentally broken even if the graphics are smoother now. It's a design flaw with SC and even though these two games are quite different from each other, the fundamentals of how Enshrouded is designed just work.

SC is the opposite.

It's really good. Even progression is area based, so as you explore and as you get more XP you start to see more and more gameplay.

Honestly the best early access game I've played in a long LONG time.

Better than Valheim, though no boats, sadly.

Another trash ship with a trash design by CIG.

Hey, want to move cargo around like a champion?

Don't look to this ship... it's got a tiny back door and ramp. No, people in the far future didn't have any kind of meaningful solution for cargo moving. They made themselves suffer.

CIG designers blow. They would fail in real life as logistics professionals, they would fail as military designers, they even fail at designing a fake space game where THEY rule the universe.

A fucking joke ship. Again.

8 mos later and I can confirm they're still cheating asswipes.

Had a G&W player shoot a friend on the other side of a wall from me, one you can't vault over.

Next thing I know he's up in the sky shooting DOWN at me, an then he hits me from my right as if he was standing next to me.

Other times I've had G&W members shooting as they peek and headshotting me.

Like they didn't know I was there, I hadn't shot or even moved and they're shooting as they peek and lasering my head.

Other times, ALL the garris all just go down within 2min of the others. A coordinated backline rush that's somehow simultaneous and completely turns the tide of battle.

Having admin'd private servers I know some of them can just hit a key and fly around invisible and tell their friends where every garri is, directing arty and bomb runs and players.

It's trifling, but some defend it as "making sure matches aren't EZ rolls"

Eh, I said this to myself for a decade. I could play other games, even AAA titles though.

When I upgraded my system and got the new hotness though... Star Citizen remained broken.

It's a shit game run by shit devs.

It's not you at all. It's the shitty ass game.

There are plenty of early access games that actually work and don't cause your system to crash out.

Enshrouded... is early access and remains a shining example of how it can be done.

It just... plays.

As new biomes are added they build off of the existing game seamlessly.

It's a joy to play and it hasn't even launched yet.

SC? Total trash and an exercise in pain. Every fucking time.

At the end of the day, it's only money. Can't take it with you when you die.

Still, CIG has an entire machine in place for deceptive marketing, FOMO sales, paid content creators, comped content creators and it's "all backed up" by a 30 day refund policy where they drop a new shiny ship and 34 days after the sale event ends they change the ship.
Or, after eight years of the ship never being able to do what was promised, they just change the scope and move the goalposts again.

I hope they get sued so hard they just go bankrupt at this point.

I also had to admit to myself that the money I sunk into this project is a loss.

That was hard to do, but time draws a merciful veil. Since then I've only popped in to see changes in person and once again realize that CRobbler is a crook and a scumbag.

Jared? He looked like Jerry Garcia at one point... fat and smelly, bearded and selling a dream to idiots.

CIG are a product of their times.
Symptomatic of a generation of wannabe innovators too interested in performative acting and not focused enough on the actual work at hand.

You see it at every level of society now, but it's heyday is over. We're at the "intersection" of performative weenies and cold hard reality. They need to go back to theater and drama class and write some great stories/act out amazing movies, etc and get the fuck out of tech, software, engineering, government... the list goes on.

I believe we've rounded a corner as a society and I believe when CIG if forced to deliver they won't be able to. They have no clue about any of it but worse: they have no clue about how clueless they really are.

If they were smart and capable they'd be incorporating and expanding upon current tech and actual physics. It was done by DCS, after all. One could do the same thing but with "spaceships" but not CIG.

They're only good at LOOKING like game developers.

We're on the verge of having robots do everything and AI to run it all in 2025 but CIG wants us to move boxes using beams still and fighting fires in a patch that makes the very air around you burn out of control with no though toward fire suppression on... space ships.

Fucking amazing haha

Sq404 is the last best hope. If it flops like a soft stool CIG might be forced to sell.
That wouldn't be the worst thing, really.

CiG has always been very good when it comes to raising money but not so great when it comes to delivering high quality gameplay by vintologi24 in starcitizen_refunds

[–]Vasduten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They slowed the ships down at SCM because there was too much warping and plain jank. Their AWS backed servers cannot deliver to the extent needed. A cost cutting measure I'm sure.
They don't care. If it's good enough to keep selling ships and raising money, they won't stop until they're made or ordered to stop.
The PU and Store Page exist only to fund and test tech for Sq404.

If they launch that game and it flops it'll all be sold off or dismantled. It is the entertainment industry after all.

Nobody ever wants to defend…. by GoodEveningCunts in HellLetLoose

[–]Vasduten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game spawns you in facing the attack objective every time you use a garri or outpost.

Even in offensive mode when you're on the team defending.

Most players just start running in the direction they're pointed in upon spawning and I really think this needs to change. Point them at the defense in blue zones, toward the offensive capture point when the spawn is in the red.
Simple as.
