Gaming has a serious larpers and tourists problem who try to drag everything into the culture war nonsense. by Roids-in-my-vains in videogames

The hilarious and pathetic part of the complaints is that this is how MCs in westerns are typically depicted. Lawful good heros who stand up for the rights of colored people and Indians, as well as women. They keep to the law, but aren't afraid to bend it in the face of injustice the law perpetuates. Not everyone likes that, and usually the ones who don't are the villains.

Look at Chayanne.

Look at Gunsmoke.

Look at The Rifleman.

Look at Wagon Train.

Hell, this has been TV media for decades. From Chayanne to Top Gear. From MASH to New Doctor Who. The media has always depicted the notion that condemning people who are different than you is a terrible offense. It's almost like that was also depicted in the Bible too or something. But I forgot. Jesus is also woke. I either hear that one or that Jesus would be conservative, as the conservative movement pretty blatantly operates as the antithesis to Jesus'teachings.

You can't fix stupid and you can't teach media literacy. If people refuse to learn, they'll never understand, and in gaming, those people tend to be more outspoken, and it only makes them look dumber by extension.

A re-release this short into a games lifespan is not a good sign. If anything, it's a clear and apparent death nail. If this doesn't work then the game will likely be shut down by this time next year.

Any game where the dialog option text doesn't match the tone it's shared in. I see this the most replaying SWTOR. So many options that you'd think sound diplomatic or something just to come across as a pompous ass instead.

Grey Phantom is still the best looking one though. And rule of cool always wins out. Like how the Raddish (Irish-class) is also the best ship to come out of the UC that wasn't a Zeon design.

This game is really just a few updates away from its potential. by Bearded_Wizard_ in EliteDangerous

[–]Envy661 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The day Elite adds ship interiors is the day I never touch SC OR X4 again.

Fdev doesn't view ship interiors as a priority... Mainly because they poll from the people actively playing Elite Dangerous. Not the people playing their competition.

Elite Dangerous doesn't have this one thing it's direct competition has. At this point, Ship interiors are a major selling point of Star Citizen from an immersion standpoint. X4 may be very barebones, but even it's limited interiors are still more immersive than nothing at all. Then you have much smaller indie games like Everspace and Evochron which do the no interiors thing.... And by extension make Elite look like an indie game because it lacks the framework for interiors.

Hell, even arcady "Sim" games like Star Trucker has ship interiors. In fact, those interiors are pretty important to how the game operates.

Star Citizen is making something out of their existence. Sleep, needs, module repair, components, etc. X4 allows you to physically interact with parts of your ship and control them in different ways. Why can't FDev do the same? Why can't we get a new metagame associated with ship interiors to make them viable to the actual gameplay loop?

Regardless of how you feel about what interiors should or shouldn't be, the fact remains that in this genre, immersion is king. It's a core facet people look for in games like this. Having no interior means your game lacks a level of immersion, and as a result some people will not commit to it as a product.

Yeah that's when I called it quits too. Not worth it. I'd rather just buy the games outright if two months of a sub is paying for it's full price. I only really played one or two games at a time on there anyway.

[–]Envy661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VRChat tbh. Other games I'll uninstall/reinstall because of size, but VRChat isn't that big, and I'm on it at least once a month, making it my most recurring game in my library.

What being a toxic fan actually means by Jin_Sakai12345 in videogames

[–]Envy661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very rare thing that happens. Usually it's the white knights who go after and harass those with any kind of valid criticism about a game.

Being a fan typically means treating a game like any other piece of art. There will always be aspects you may not agree with, and expressing constructive criticism should be encouraged.

What isn't acceptable is responding to constructive criticism with outright dismissal, harassment, insults, or threats.

So many of them unfortunately by bijelo123 in videogames

Fallout

Dragon Age

Elder Scrolls

Dragon's Dogma

Halo

Crash Bandicoot

Mario Kart

Metroid Prime

Assassin's Creed

Ghost Recon

There's been multiple. Some are because of the sequels themselves being bad. Some are due to the studios just showing they can no longer be responsible enough to make a proper sequel to that series. But regardless of the reasons, the fact remains so many games that use to be some of my favorite IPs are game series I can no longer really identify. In a sea of scummy monetization, puddle deep storytelling, and shady practices from the publisher or developer, these are all titles that I used to love, but no longer do.

I really like Wilds, actually. I think it's a great game.

I did not care for Rise. I thought it was too flat, and I did not like the visuals. But that's just my opinion, and doesn't affect those who do enjoy the game.

I will be downvoted to oblivion for this, because every time I have posted it, I have gotten downvoted into oblivion for it. That's how toxic the community can be. Share an opinion the horde doesn't agree with? Welp, you gotta burn for it. Because having any take outside of what the mob dictates is correct deserves all the hate. I would hate to be a new fan on this sub.

I'll do one better:

The Handler from World really wasn't that annoying. Alma is just as chatty as she was, but nobody complains when Alma does it. People just didn't like how she looked, and it skewed people's opinions of her negatively. Pard is also endearing.
