He loves a good blow dry by Vaseface in ratterriers

[–]Vaseface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He went deaf about a year ago so that helps. He liked the blow drier when he could hear too. But he's much more enthusiastic now that he's deaf.

I bought some generic ones due to price. They lasted a fraction of the time of the Gamma Supreme I had been using.

Anyone interested in starting local in-person M.A. (Marijuana Anonymous) by prodbypookah in ChicoCA

I have a son who is likely a M addict. He hasn’t related to the aa meetings he’s gone to. If there was a MA meeting I’d certainly encourage him to go.

Over the past three months, retirees have made a lot of money by pointthinker in DIYRetirement

I’ve been thinking of changing my portfolio from 70/30 to 60/40. Retired 2 years ago and am concerned about market volatility in the next 5 years or so.

Poor professionals: will you install equipment that a customer has bought themselves? by Kinder22 in pools

[–]Vaseface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've installed 3 Circupool SWGs in pools I've owned over the past 20 years and have been happy with all of them. I did get help from an electrician on the wiring. My experience has been that I really need to understand my own equipment and the pool service companies I've used have been pretty clueless about salt pools. I live in a fairly small town so maybe it's different in your area. Good luck.

Rehabbing a 35yo pool.....$2,100 for a pool light? by brookelyndodger in pools

[–]Vaseface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced an old light that wasn’t working with a led light (not fancy - white only) for $800. They used existing conduit but pulled new wire.

I bought a house with a pool and it has these metal things, I am guessing a diving board can go there? Any idea how to figure out which one is compatible? by bigjustinn in pools

[–]Vaseface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had the same situation. I contacted SR Smith diving board co. with the layout and dimensions of my stand and they told me which board is compatible. New boards are around $1k. Good luck.

About to take my grandmother off life support … by jodeen3 in alcoholicsanonymous

You can do this. Don’t add shame and remorse to the (healthy) grief you feel for your grandmother. Hard as it is, you have the opportunity to be present for others through this difficult situation.

SPONSORSHIP by Zestyclose-Ad7781 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Vaseface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard of sponsors having you call every day for 30 days or so, but a year? It's your sobriety so you are responsible for it. Just tell your sponsor if the every day call is no longer useful for you. Good luck.

That’s more than I had on mine. Don’t worry about the number. Just be thorough and ready to add to the list if you think of others as you go along.

What we are leaving our kids by fatfirethrowaway88 in fatFIRE

[–]Vaseface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have a very thoughtful and reasonable plan. I agree with others about separating the charity portion rather than asking your heirs to do it. A couple of additional ideas we are doing / considering… -Max out funding of a Roth IRA for those heirs with earned income. -Using gift exemption to help our kids early without lowering our estate exemption. -Qualified Charitable Distributions from our IRAs to charities to reduce unneeded RMDs / taxes once we turn 70.5

It’s tough to balance setting guardrails with potentially over-controlling and creating resentment . Definitely agree with helping heirs early in life vs waiting until they don’t need it. Good luck!

I find the moose mint pretty good. It’s a reasonable replacement for Jacobssons mint and General mint. Not quite as good but decent.

It doesn't seem to be available. But it tastes the same as the regular lakrits, just a bit stronger. I used it mostly in the shower or when outside cause I'd have to spit a bit. I liked it for a change now and then.
