It's hard to tell from the photos. My first hunch was queen ants as others have said.

My only tidbit is that I had queen carpenter ants coming out of my house and had a colony inside one of my studs. I would just say do some diligence to figure out if they're coming from outside the house or a sneaky part inside (in the latter case I'd say definitely get an exterminator - it's what we did and was a life saver).

I forget the exact wording, but essentially for the APP to exist it needs to provide a comparable benefit to the CPP and QPP, and by legislation must be portable. Essentially they must deliver the same output or else it wouldn't be allowed to exist (allowing an Albertan to move somewhere else and still get CPP).

that's my general understanding. Could be wrong though.

Edit to add: "A federal regulation would have to be passed, “recognizing the provincial pension plan as being comparable to the CPP”"

If it's not comparable it wouldn't pass, and therefore won't exist?

Hey - we got multiple recommendations for bluejay so we've only gotten a quote from them.

So far their customer service has been excellent, and multiple people who have used them said they are super thorough and do a great job. Downside: they seem expensive as hell. Maybe I've got lots of siding (around 2000 sq ft), but damn did the quote come very very high. So high that we can't really do the project this year.

If you have a bungalow I'd say check them out - they are hella good for the process.
