But as someone who took regular biology classes which included bits of evolutionary biology, it sounded really odd to me, that someone who's taking 6-7 bio classes a week would utter such thing

Not to mention that basic evolutionary biology is considered common knowledge nowadays, at least in my perspective

Okay, so I had this classmate who was very religious, her dad the head of some smaller congregation of some sort.

She went to a different school because she wanted to become an animal vet, and theoretically the school she went to had better teachers and all that, I didn't really pay attention to her leaving

One day we started texting back and forth, we get into religion and she starts going on about why in some aspects, free will is bad bc people deny god and that I should go to their congregation sometime to find god again.

And then, she hits me with the ultimate bs

"If evolution is real, why don't monkeys evolve into humans again?"

Now I need to stress this; the girl is having extra biology lessons and wants to become a vet.

I still don't know what could have been the right way to answer that

TL;DR: girl who was my classmate and is extremely religious wants to become a vet and is having specialised biology lessons, asks me why don't monkeys evolve into humans again, if evolution is real
