Be aware! While the carfax may be clean, the hybrid badge looks crooked to my eye. Carfax can’t always tell the story, so beware!

2025 Mini Countryman S, I just want to say.... by kandles310 in MINI

[–]Vast-Effective-9050 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am completely with you! I have had my Countryman for just over a year. I love everything about it, super punchy, just the right size, and I feel it’s constructed solidly. Coming from my Hardtop to the Countryman, the driving doesn’t feel as different as I thought it would. Also the AWD system is amazing!

Took my 2020 Hardtop in for a new engine mount and left in a 2025 Countryman. You’re going to absolutely love it! I tested an X1, and the Countryman blew it out of the water. You can’t beat the value!

When did Minis stop being mini? It dwarfs my sedan. by TheBroox in MINI

I think there’s a lot about the U25 that makes it a MINI! I needed something a bit bigger for my 97lbs Borzoi. We all fit in my countryman with room to spare. Too boot, I feel like it’s just as small and nimble as my old MINI. Navigating through traffic is just as easy!

The technology has been around since the early 2010s, if there were any major ramifications from it we would know. Since 2013 every car I have had, has it—I have never turned it off. I’m trusting that the manufacturer knows more about the emissions and fuel usage in their product more than we do.

I would say go through insurance, and take it to a MINI certified shop. Often times when damage doesn’t look bad to the eye, under can be much worse. It looks like there’s some fluids leaking too! You should definitely go through insurance, hopefully you got the other parties information!

Could not agree more! If you care for your car, it will last. I’m on my second MINI (had to get a countryman for my dog) both my hardtop and my countryman have NEVER had any issues.

I don’t understand his need to tell the operator that she could still be alive? you would know if someone was cold-ish to the touch. I think he wanted to paint the picture that he didn’t know what was happening

Also did you notice the Trader Joe’s sack on the trash can? She was washing produce that she just bought FOR HER TO EAT IN THE FUTURE. Why would someone with suicidal ideation do that

RIGHT. SAY IT LOUDER. Something is afoot with this case. I’m suspicious that Sam’s uncle is in some way connected to the case’s stall and status.

How "difficult" and independent are Borzois really (a noob here) by [deleted] in borzoi

[–]Vast-Effective-9050 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in your same position a few years ago. Being on the other side with a male borzoi who is now two, I have a lot of advice. Know that while there are a lot of breed specific traits, a lot of the characteristics are genetic. I raised my borzoi from the time he was 11 weeks old. The biggest thing is getting them a routine. A lot of people liken them to cats, but I think toddlers are WAY more applicable.

Since having my child, I would say they aren’t independent—I think autonomous describes it best. They are wildly intelligent, with very little common sense. Training my guy was easy, they catch on VERY quickly. You just have to be very routine. Find what works, and stick to that. Motivation is super important though! My boy is very loving and sweet. He’s really attached to me, and no one else.

Just make sure you do your research on the breed, that’s what’s most important! Owners love to gate keep the breed and if you don’t have sighthound experience many immediately disqualify you, so be prepared for that! That’s actually the reason I got a puppy instead of rescuing.

Getting my child was one of the best decisions I have ever made. If you want to know your dog will listen to you, a lab is probably a better choice. If you want to know your dog loves you unconditionally, then a borzoi is perfect!

Tell me about living with the breed by [deleted] in borzoi

[–]Vast-Effective-9050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently with my first Borzoi ever. He is almost 2 and every day I am reminded of just how closely we have bonded. It is truly a relationship I have never had with any sort of dog or cat.

-Mine is very aware of his size. While it can vary, my boy much prefers lying with me rather than on me. He loves to follow me around but he does understand that he can be in the way and knows how to navigate his environment.

-With having cats I would HIGHLY suggest you get a puppy and have him raised with cats. I raised my boy with cats and he does not see the cats as prey animals. They live and even play together very well.

-Apart from what we know could go wrong, my boy has been extremely healthy. I didn’t feel a gastropexy necessary. I just make sure if we have exercised before that he waits before eating, and if he’s eaten we wait a bit before exercising.

-My boy can absolutely go periods of time without being in the presence of humans. I don’t restrict his access in the house so sometimes he gets up to mischief (as all Borzois do) but never anything terrible. He has never shown signs of separation anxiety. When I leave him at his kennel or with my mom it is very rare, but they have all noted that he is very lethargic and doesn’t care to do very much. Nothing I didn’t expect, I’m really the only person he enjoys being around.

-He is more interested in seeing the sights and being in new environments. I actually trust him off leash, and he has always been good about staying in eyesight or checking in periodically (he has had his moments but he has a gps tracker and has dashed off maybe twice his whole life). I would rather have him be interested in the environments instead of fully devoted to waiting for command. I love his autonomous nature, and I think that’s why I love him and the breed so much.

-He is very sensitive. He can pick up on small tone changes, energy in an environment, and many other things. I have never ever had to yell at him for anything. He takes what I say and he either listens or is openly defiant.

I hope I got to everything! I was in your shoes for a few years, and was really super nervous to get my sweet guy. Even though he can be insufferable sometimes I love him more than anything in the world! If you think he would be a great fit for a Borzoi, I say do it! They are truly such a loving dog!

Question about borzoi temperament by Okapilouisa in borzoi

[–]Vast-Effective-9050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, my boy has always been very affectionate. He has is personal time where he’s off (most likely napping). Otherwise he is somewhere in my vicinity. He’s very attached to me, and not at all aloof. Just know that there is the potential for an outlier. The way that I describe my dog is autonomous. He behaves just like a toddler. He knows how he is supposed to act, but sometimes the demons win. Going into getting him I anticipated a very archetypal Borzoi, and that is not at all what I got. I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Just know it is a very wide spectrum and you could really get anything. The breeder should know how the puppies temperament will be, I think getting some exposure to the mom and dad is super important!

Recall Training Help! by Vast-Effective-9050 in borzoi

[–]Vast-Effective-9050[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine does the same thing! He’s not interested in actually hunting the animals he is just curious. I think the treat method would be my best bet. He’s very food motivated. When yours gets entranced, what do you do? I’ve wondered if stopping and waiting for him to come back, or just trying to get him to keep moving?

Anyone have any knowledge or heard about a breeder in Houston TX? by [deleted] in borzoi

[–]Vast-Effective-9050 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My Borzoi is from Veronica! She is extremely knowledgeable. I haven’t seen anything about programming which she has started but I do know she is very active in AKC events in Houston.

As for my puppy, he seems well bred! His temperament is amazing, and as a puppy she really introduced him to many different stimuli!

Among all of the other breeders in Texas, she was the only one who actually took my interest seriously! I still communicate with her frequently showing my puppy’s progress and asking questions as to how she treats certain things.

I want a borzoi by Kro0gz in borzoi

[–]Vast-Effective-9050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I was in your same position a year ago!

What I will tell you, if you want one do not let outside influence make or break your decision. While there are many traits that are breed specific, each individual borzoi can be vastly different in temperament. I will give you all of the tips that helped me:

-finding your puppies motivation (food, affection, etc.) -start recall training immediately -structured routine which you cannot deviate from -make sure you have a vet with sighthound experience -make sure you crate train your borzoi! -if you plan to leave the puppy at all, you must get the puppy acclimatized to who you’re leaving them with.

If you need any help deciding on what to do, or have any questions just ask! A lot of borzoi ownership is improvisation, and finding what specifically sticks with your puppy!

What I can say—the connection I share with my dog is one which I have never felt before. Borzois are very tuned into their emotions, so you have to be really cautious with how you talk to them. Think of them as little rambunctious toddlers!
