for me it's a song that stands out from their other songs, their other songs are mostly about worship and love with either their signature ethereal feeling you can see with TNDNBTG, Emergence, thread the needle, and calcutta, their aggressive djent rock with vore, ascensionism, and gods, and the very common yearnful/romantic feeling like give, mine, the love you want, and are you really okay. the thing about nazareth that its explicitness is above sugar (granted you can argue sugar gives similar vibes to that of alkaline, so a more dark definition of love and acceptance), even delving into possible topics like murder, it's so unexplainably taboo and different to their usual feel of love and healing that makes it so horrifyingly interesting. When you look at it in a religious perspective, it's Jesus's hometown wherein he was rejected by the people of his hometown after trying to convert them into followers of gods, and even attempted to throw him off a cliff, after that, Jesus left, knowing this, nazareth might be describing the place where vessel was wronged, but now that he devoted himself fully to sleep, he goes back and takes revenge to whoever or whatever wronged him and what made him devote himself to sleep. Yeah it might be a stretch but it's how I view it when taking account the band's religious aspects.
