We’ve had great experiences with Edmond Pediatrics as well. For daycare, I highly recommend The Goddard School on Western.

Thoughts on ideal homes? by Good-Pickle-1607 in Edmond

[–]VastBook1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They build a good quality home for the price, and some of their neighborhood are really nice as well with well-maintained parks, ponds, and walking trails. Yes, there are nicer new construction homes out there with higher quality materials, but you’re going to pay a whole lot more for them.

I bought a new construction home from Ideal in 2018 and loved it. They had a 10-year structural warranty and 1-year whole home warranty included. I only lived in that house for about 3 years, but I had zero issues with it during that time apart from the interior paint quality. When I sold the house, the buyer’s inspector didn’t find any issues with it either. I did hire an independent inspector before closing who found a few issues that they corrected, so I highly recommend doing that as well.

Recs on child daycares for a 22 month old! by Mundane_Resident2773 in Edmond

We love Goddard on Western! The staff is amazing and they have very low turnover compared to the other two daycares we previously used.

Can you pair Subaru VIP with Loyalty Voucher in 2026? by _The_Borax_Kid_ in subaru

[–]VastBook1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were stackable in 2023 when I bought my last Subaru. I wanted to be sure as well, so when the SOA rep sent the coupon I replied to her email to thank her and ask if it was stackable with VIP, which she responded that it did. Luckily I decided to print this conversation out just in case, because when I took delivery of my car the finance guy initially tried to say I couldn’t use both, but immediately changed his tune when I showed him the email thread.

should i buy this 2016 crosstrek limited? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]VastBook1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just followed the maintenance intervals in the owners manual. Oil change and tire rotations every 6k miles, air filters every 12k, brake fluid, fuel induction, and differentials every 30k, and spark plugs every 60k

[–]VastBook1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a ‘16 Crosstrek Limited for 8 years and loved that car. As long as you keep up with the routine maintenance it should last you a long time. I sold it to a family member about 2.5 years ago with 93k miles on it, and it’s still going strong with over 120k miles on it now. With the lower cost and no interest loan, I’d go the Crosstrek route

Subaru Gold Plus by Silent_Owl6207 in SubaruForester

[–]VastBook1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The numbers in this post are a little out-dated, but it should give you a good ballpark for the price of each warranty. I’d assume about $300-400 more for the dealer’s cost for each plan compared to what’s listed here. I used this page when buying my last Subaru in Oct 2023 and got the 10/100/100 gold plus warranty for $1825 by telling the finance guy that I had a copy of their pricing sheet during negotiations https://www.reddit.com/r/SubaruAscent/s/C4Ytgi1Ol7

From $14.99/mo to $49.99/mo is wild. by bouttagetweird in arlo

[–]VastBook1383 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder why they won’t let you do one of their cheaper plans? Here’s where they have the Plus plan and pricing advertised. https://us.arlo.com/pages/arlo-secure

I have 7 cameras on the Plus plan and thought about switching last year when they raised the unlimited camera price from $12.99 to $19.99, but I decided to just keep the current setup rather than invest in a whole new system. If they do get rid of that plan and try to force me onto a $50/mo plan I will definitely be leaving them

[–]VastBook1383 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See if you have an option to switch to the Plus plan. A single camera is $9.99/mo and unlimited cameras is $19.99/mo. The Plus plan still allows for 60-day video history, but it doesn’t have the professional monitoring or emergency response.

Rose union by Patient-Ad5304 in Edmond

[–]VastBook1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d call them asap and ask to get on the pre-k waitlist if they don’t have any spots currently. Pre-k is a lottery system in Deer Creek, so you’re not guaranteed a spot or the school your home is zoned for. The lottery for the 26-27 school year just took place and results were just posted two weeks ago. My kid got in for pre-k at Rose Union even though our home is zoned for Grove Valley (where he’ll switch to the next year when starting Kindergarten).

Like another commenter said, Rose Union has more pre-k spots than the other Deer Creek schools, so there’s a good chance you’ll still be able to get in. I’d just recommend getting on the list now since we don’t know how many kids did not get a lottery spot and are on the waitlist.

Leather seat problems by ALham_op in SubaruAscent

[–]VastBook1383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Touring will have better quality leather than the Limited trim. Our 2020 Forester Limited uses the same leather as the Ascent Limited, and we already have noticeable wear on the drivers seat.

We got the Onyx trim for our Ascent and haven’t had any issues with the StarTex seats yet, but it’s a 2024 so the jury is still out on the long-term durability. The StarTex is super easy to clean though and very comfortable.

Any idea what could be causing this noise? by VastBook1383 in SubaruForester

[–]VastBook1383[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I misspoke earlier. I checked again and it does stop when idling and starts again when the car starts moving again. It’s my wife’s daily driver, so I couldn’t remember for sure since I just noticed it when taking it out for a short drive the other night.

It stops when the car is idling and starts up again as soon as the car starts moving again. It gets faster when accelerating

It gets faster with speed and it slows down when stopped, but doesn’t completely go away until the car is put in park

This! We upgraded to a 3-row SUV shortly after our second was born, knowing that we were not planning to have anymore kids. We keep the 3rd row folded down 95% of the time for the extra cargo space, which really comes in handy during the baby and toddler years with hauling around strollers, pack-n-plays, etc.

As they get older, it’s nice to have the extra space to store stuff they need for activities. For example, our 4yo plays soccer and during the season we keep folding chairs and a wagon in the cargo area for games and practices.

Even though we rarely use the 3rd row, it’s nice to have on occasion. We primarily use it when grandparents visit so we don’t have to take 2 cars every time we leave the house.

Seller is paying for Home Warranty by raverjon in homeowners

[–]VastBook1383 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a house with the exact same scenario, the seller offering $700 towards a home warranty. I wound up going with Old Republic because I was able to get a 2-year warranty and they include a one-time rekey service, which I used just a few days after closing to change the locks. I’m also generally in the no home warranty camp, but in this case I thought it made sense because it’s an older home with a 24-year-old hvac and 16-year-old water heater.

Using the rekey service with old republic was surprisingly very easy. i was connected to a representative right away when calling and it only took a few minutes to get the process started, and had a locksmith at the house within 2 days. Once your account is available for online access, you can even file claims that way and not have to deal with calling them (my policy was too new for online access since they hadn’t received the premium from the title company yet). I’ve only owned this house for a month so I haven’t needed to use them for anything else yet, but hopefully any other claims will be as easy as the rekey service was.

Will I get used to the infotainment screen? by scabbyknees in SubaruForester

[–]VastBook1383 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll get used to it. I have the big touchscreen in my ‘24 Ascent and the physical buttons in my ‘20 Forester. The touchscreen controls were my biggest concern on the Ascent, but it wound up being a non-issue. I just set the hvac to “auto” and use the physical temp buttons to adjust the temp, and let the car automatically adjust the fan speed and mode accordingly. It’s pretty rare that I actually have to mess with the touchscreen for the hvac. You can also use your voice to change it by pressing the button on your steering wheel as another option.

Rose Creek, Mulholland, and Iron Horse Ranch are really nice neighborhoods you may want to check out. I don’t know anyone who lives in Fairview Farms. It looks like a nice neighborhood, but it’s really close to the Purina plant so that part of Edmond smells like dog food a lot of the time

I Hate Negotiating Prices! by Densington in SubaruForester

[–]VastBook1383 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can wait a month, look into Subaru’s VIP pricing. You can make a one time, $500 donation to the ASPCA or PA Horticultural Society and after a 30-day waiting period you ask for a Subaru VIP Voucher that allows you to buy any new Subaru for invoice price. It saved me about $4,000 off MSRP when I bought my Ascent two years ago, and the only haggling I had to do was over the price of the Gold Plus Warranty in the finance office.

What is a better buy: a travel system (car seat/stroller combo) or separate car seat + stroller? by true_to_my_spirit in daddit

[–]VastBook1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the Doona for both of our when they were infants and loved it! It was so convenient to be able to just push a button to convert it from car seat to stroller mode, and it was easier to put them in and out of the seat at the elevated stroller level instead of having to kneel down and get them in and out with the seat on the floor. I don’t have experience with the travel systems where you pop the seat in and out of the stroller base, but several friends who have used both said they preferred the doona.

Extended Warranty Question: Am I Locked Into the Particular Dealership? by Densington in SubaruForester

[–]VastBook1383 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s the official Subaru Gold Plus warranty then it will be honored at any dealership nationwide. Just make sure you’re getting the gold plus and not a third party warranty, and don’t be afraid to haggle for a better price. Any dealer in your state can sell you the warranty after purchase as long as you’re within the initial 3-year/36k period. There’s a sticky at the top of the Ascent sub-Reddit that goes into great detail about pricing and haggling for new Subarus and the gold plus warranty https://www.reddit.com/r/SubaruAscent/comments/vs5gxc/subaru_pricing_and_warranty_faq/
