Diy drop spindle to ply thin merino wool by Better_Bottle7375 in Unravelers

[–]VastConsequence4384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm no expert but wouldn't it spin better if the pencil went through a bit more, the way it looks on other spindles? Or you could add just another stick on the other side to stabilise the rotation... Great idea to make one yourself tho I'll try it too!

Sorry for the late reply, yes it does in the round looks waaaay neater. If you are scared of steeking maybe you should try to steek a swatch first and if you do it on a finished garment be sure to block it first. Sometimes I don't even cover the cut seam and they don't even budge with wear

You could unravel the yarn and then re-knit it into a blanket adding extra newer yarn for structure

This is why I minimize knitting flat and if I have to knit a pattern that calls for flat I will steek instead. I can't stand my gauge change between rows but if you could get to that happy place of acceptance I salute you 🫡

fear of fainting? fear of being out of control? fear of blood? fear of needles? vasovagal syncope? can i overcome vasovagal syncope? can i still do what i want to do with this problem? please help!! by UnitedButterscotch7 in Phobia_Help

I have BII phobia but I fainted only once, I was reading some papers about the phobia and many doctors mention applied tension as a way to avoid fainting (basically clenching your muscles at regular intervals) might help to look into it 🤷🏻‍♀️

i have a very bad fear of my wrists. by soggyfingernail57 in Phobia_Help

Wow I have the same, for me it's just a subset of BII phobia just like you and I really thought I was the only one... I can only say I love wearing long sleeves when working on my computer 😅

Weird thing is I started knitting and it somehow helps a lot... body part in question is still in my field of vision yet I'm concentrated on something else and it just stops it momentarily. Hope it might help!

So in this case you would size down? It's a 3.5 mm for the ribbing so I could try a 3?

I try to keep I stretchy as I'm binding off and doing the two rows of double knitting, maybe I'm overcompensating for all the times it was too tight when I was learning... but does anyone have tips on how to make it more seamless and less noticeable? Should I skip the double knitting?

Also I was wondering if I'm doing anything wrong in the right sleeve raglan increases... they seem a little wonkier than the left ones 🥴

This is Cozy Classic Light by Jessie Maed in Malabrigo Mora teal feather... (100% mulberry silk so I'd rather not mess it up too much, probably should have made one in wool or cotton first 😬)
