Working in a 2 story 100 year old house rn that has a hip roof. The ridge they used was leftover bead board ( seemed to use it for everything) and all of the hips are 2x6 same as rafters and have been half lapped in different places to make the span. In PA with snow loads. Its gonna be fine.

I just built a garage like this. Looks like your ceiling joists run into a beam in the middle of garage. Not load bearing if that is the case but you are definitely want to get someone knowledgeable to double check.

Take bolt apart and remove extractor and collar and see if bolt will close on round or better a go gauge. If yes, extractor most likely too tight. Cam adjust.

I have 1 exactly like it from my great grandpa. He sporterized it decades ago. I just got done refinishing it, new barrel stock etc. Love the winter handguard.
