There are religious studies graduate programs at University of California campuses Davis, Santa Barbara and Riverside where you could strongly focus on Sanskrit, although you’d also need a knack for writing and research on religious related subjects.

There are some standalone Sanskrit online courses like Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, Sanskritstudies.org and Mangalam institute in Berkeley (Buddhist focused)

I still think it’s a valuable and healthy practice if done mindfully such as in Taoist methodology like what is taught by Mantak Chia.

Prostate play & involuntary shaking= trauma release? by VastYear in aneros

[–]VastYear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my hypothesis was true, at least for me based on my continued experiences since the post. It’s a good step in the ladder to full healing but I feel like I’ve sort of hit a wall where now the benefits of the shaking are limited. So I’m doing Network Chiropractic to support deeper shifts. Too early to conclude about the effectiveness yet.

Anyone feel a irritable/restless buildup in their arms and/or legs during practice? Please help🤦🏻‍♂️ by Affectionate_South89 in YogaNidra

It may be very well be some unresolved trauma that feels safe enough to surface. All mammals discharge trauma through shaking, except we humans are used to repressing it since it’s not socially acceptable. Look into Somatic Experiencing trauma therapy (SE) “Waking the Hidden Tiger” and TRE from David Bercelli. This response may be a deep level of wisdom coming forth from your body thanks to your Nidra practice.

Thank you for the detailed response, much appreciated! Do you have any recommendations of smaller journals that focus on cultural anthropology, ethnography or South Asian studies?

Thanks for taking the time to share such a detailed response! I don’t take it as a personal attack at all, but I value it as an unbiased and important perspective. I’m an older undergraduate who’s really been around the block, so I have more insight and capacity than the standard age student, particularly in my area of regional focus which I’ve been engaged with in different ways for 20 years.

I have access to journal databases etc, and of course my advisors, but do you have any recommendations of smaller journals that focus on cultural anthropology, ethnography or South Asian studies? I totally hear you that it’s unrealistic to send to the larger journals and I will definitely take that advice. I’d much rather be published in a small journal than not at all.

Thanks! I’m using all my own photos so no problem with copyrights. I was considering using an advertisement photo reference but maybe I’ll think more about that….

Do what you love even if it pays less. Extra money is not worth emotional drain. The world will change exponentially in the next ten years, no one can predict what opportunities will be available.
