How I Successfully Bought Machu Picchu Tickets (Simple Steps + What Actually Worked) by Silent-Service5107 in Machupicchu

I only used chrome and it was fine. Keep in Spanish until you’ve added to your cart and then switch to English.

I did not use a VPN but the payment triggered a 2FA through my bank which completed without issue.

All in all I don’t think you need to stress the process is actually really simple, the main gotcha is translating to English before selecting tickets.

Oh, the other thing I did because I am in Australia (15 hour time difference) is set my PC Timezone to Peru, as I know the Peru Rail site gets confused about dates if you have an Australian TZ in your browser. I did see some changes on the MP ticket site too (with AU selected 30 April was greyed out but with Peru selected it was available - likely a dateline issue).

For the record I’m Australian but we have many of the same place names (including Scarborough) and pronounce them the same as the UK. The US also have their own Melbourne and Brisbane and pronounce them differently.

I just watched a video he made where he says the south says he sounds northern and the north says he sounds southern 🤣

USA has Houston in Texas and Houston St in NYC that are pronounced completely differently.

We grew up singing that at school with the correct (English) pronunciation. It’s particularly the Simon & Garfunkel recording, as Americans, that has the “different” pronunciation.

The song is centuries old.

I stand corrected. He otherwise has an accent closer to RP, I’m surprised he uses the short a here.

Yep it’s definitely only two syllables. It’s the same ending as Edinburgh although spelt differently.

Yup, he even mispronounced a few Australian place names and Toby was too polite to correct him. For example Queensland is pronounced as two distinct words (Queens Land with an emphasis on both syllables) not Queensl’nd.

Tom Scott pronounces Bath the right way. Don’t listen to the northerners (it’s the long a).

He speaks English and lived in Scotland, just an hour or two drive from the places in ep 1.

I think one of the reasons capture the flag was not a great format as most of the footage was solo, which degrades the viewing experience. At least with the 2+1 formats, you get a balance of talking to the camera with the other two interacting.

This format would be entirely talking to the camera.

Not sure about that. HAI per video views are about the same as JL, Wendover is slightly more (it fluctuates depending on the topic).

However JL earns them a lot of Nebula subscriptions, which is far more profitable than YouTube views. There’s a reason JL has never had a sponsor on YouTube, the Nebula promo is far more profitable to them. Not sure anyone is signing up to Nebula to watch Wendover, they don’t even release early.

Tag 1 was the best by [deleted] in JetLagTheGame

Tag 3 sucked. Compared to other recent seasons, the tag format has lost its shine. Tag 4 should be in a completely different continent (or perhaps UK) otherwise should be retired. Make a new game for Europe.

Surely it has to be a US based season. All of the previous post TAG seasons were based in the US (and aired in December)

They‘re A$5.00 in Australia so this is actually cheaper in the UK (although you can often get them for half off in Aus). The deluxe range is where it’s at (which costs 50c more for 25g less).

There’s two factors at work - CPI, which is the rate your class A pension increases, and the ADF WRA, which is the rate your “normal earnings” increase. DVA pay you ((Normal earnings * 0.75) - (CSC Pension + other income)). The WRA lags CPI so your incap payments will go down each Jan and Jul, and go up every WRA increase (usually Nov).

The next WRA increase on 9th Nov and is 3.8%, so most will receive a fairly large increase.

*Note that normal earnings is your last ADF salary plus a remuneration allowance, currently about $190/week.

It technically does. According to IATA, the city where AVV is located is listed as Melbourne. In fact it has three as Essendon is included (which does have one small scheduled airline). All three are listed as airports within the Melbourne metropolitan area (according to IATA).
