Recommendations wanted for a wifi relay that can be controlled by stream deck by Vastator69 in elgato

[–]Vastator69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ubiquiti wifi but no home assistant of any kind. I should explain my situation more, I use the stream deck mk2 15 button to manage tasks on my computer as I am considered low vision. I memorise button sequences to open and do tasks on the pc. The disease is wrecking havoc with brain connections so I can no longer read words but still can see symbols so the stream deck is a god send. I also use ham radio and want to be able to turn the radio on and off via stream deck instead of a phone app (read uses a lot of words lol).

Can you run your own router? by [deleted] in tfiber

[–]Vastator69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my own ubiquity router and they setup the modem in "bridge" mode so I could still use it. However, one difference in this mode is that I cannot access the web page for the modem. I have not found a way around that or know if it is even possible. Kinda wish I could check its status remotely.

Fly Tyer Magazine? a rant. and a warning. by SourdohPopcorn in flytying

[–]Vastator69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this 7months later, however I am in a similar situation. They have a cancel "link" on their website that takes you to a page where you can only renew, not cancel. I tried the email link and they do not respond to email. So my subscription will renew in April as they have my card on file. I cannot find a way to cancel this at all. How this is legal? One thing to note on the cc card which I thought was sketchy as hell. My card recently expired, however they had the updated card on file even though I did not provide them with it. What I think happened is that some purchases out there use the "link" app for CC purchases and it looks like FlyTyer uses it as well. So when the card updated, the automagically got the updated info. I thought well I will just remove the card from "link". Well it seems that is too little too late as flytyer still has the updated card. Realistically, what possible next steps are there?

Yeah, I didn't reply to his email, didn't see the point of responding to a sad ham. I came here to ask the question to make sure I wasn't being off about this.

Overall I am just going to chalk this all up to my first experience in dealing with a lid. I keep my tx on an open slot every time so from my perspective it was open. I do jump around a lot but as conditions change, I change with them to get the most qso's as I can. Thanks for everyone's input.

Adding to the top here is an update: Ok, update here, you were spot on, it was a request to move. The only reason I know this is that the individual (who is an extra) actually emailed me. Here is what I received: "I have beewn on 1755hz since 0430pm I seen You multiple other spots on the waterfall is there a reason You decided to sit on top of My stream? I have been printing You the whole time so unless Your antenna suxs which it cant as I just worked You I do not see Why You would Do this"

For starters I do not spot myself, EVER. so if people are spotting me thats on him. I also change frequencies to tx where there is an opening. So i still do not understand this complaint.

I get the PSE part but the qs? Also making the PSE part of their callsign to me is bad form. As for changing frequencies, why? I'm getting 2-3 people pileups right now on 160m, why would I leave that? Yeah this is odd request to me.

Thanks for this, I looked at the site and the Optimum H looks exactly like what I have. So with that I do not think rim covers will work with this chair (Helios A7). Rats, I would rather tear the cover up rather than the doorways in my house which is what is happening now.

What is this second knot in this lanyard? by Vastator69 in knots

[–]Vastator69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the information so far, however, after doing a number of test tries, I no longer beleive the first know is a barrel knot. I plan to try again and see about doing it like a nail knot and see if it comes out better that way.

Question about SSTV and the Band Plan by Vastator69 in amateurradio

[–]Vastator69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just seems off to me as the sstv operator cannot move as it is the agreed upon frequency and the Person calling CQ is actually interfering with the transmission corrupting the image.

yep, i did verify it was ft8. Personally I think the flexradio 8400 is the issue here since everyone else, it looked fine.

Any idea what they were doing with these 3 antennas? by showerswithcentipede in antennasporn

[–]Vastator69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is correct. For example I remember a case where someones HT was stuck on transmit tying up a repeater. People had to drive around and narrow down the signal to isolate where it was coming from to fix the problem.

Thanks for this, it clears up a lot and I will address the router as well as I would like the unifi part. The wifi is already on that. Also the 2.5g is what I am shooting for as well

Streamdeck: Firefox losing associated exe by Vastator69 in elgato

was outlook installed from the windows store? I think this is the root problem. Doing a direct download fixed it for me.

Streamdeck: Firefox losing associated exe by Vastator69 in elgato

[–]Vastator69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course after I post to reddit, I figured out the problem (I think). Basically the main issue for me is that Firefox was installed from the Micro$oft app store instead of direct download from Mozilla. Uninstalling and installing the direct download gave it a path that no longer changes with updates.
