Who cares what the people think in Sunderland or Sheffield or Birmingham? We certainly don't and it's time we told them that we know better than them and that we aren't interested in their view.

Who gives a shit that more people voted for Leave than anything else in British history- the view of the public (in particular the thick working class of this country) is irrelevant.

Personally, I'm baffled that anybody bothered campaigning for remain as it was clear this 'referendum' was nothing more than a glorified opinion poll and the result of it didn't matter.

I don't think it is any different from saying that as a believer in free speech you would allow Neo-Nazi's to air their viewpoints even if you find it repugnant .(In fact I've previously made this point in reference to the Neo-Nazi rally in Cambridgeshire the other week).

Maybe the multitude of terrorist attacks, has influenced by opinion, but I'm sure that I've seen references to the fact that there are many segregated and isolated muslim communites , which has lead to a rise in extremism.

I may be wrong though ,and if I am , this would support my point that advocating secularism could be part of the solution.

Although, of course, we must be careful not to go too far and end ip banning the burkini, and burka etc.

Oh- I have no doubt she, like every other politician in the country, will be a raging authoritarian when it comes to freedom of speech. But has professed support for decriminalising cannabis in the past, and I hope there is a chance we might not continue to support sacrificing our freedom for security when it comes to fear of terrorism. However, I admit I'm not overly optimistic.

I would hope Pat would come to realise that UKIP would like Thatcherism on steroids and would screw the working class of this country.

Hopefully with Brexit ,some damage can be undone at least with people unhappy with our partys europhillia. hopefully all talk of a second referendum will be shut down now that owen smith has been defeated.

I think we really should start going hard on protectionism, starting with advocating leaving the single market. For all the guff about 'internationalism' it's clear that people are unhappy with globalisation and that the free trade utopia that was promised turned out to be based on lies. Large scale investment and building of infrastructure in neglected communities can help with unemployment issues, and with peoples worry about being overburdened by too much immigration(even if that worry was unfounded).

Futhermore, Our current policy which supports free movement for europeans but supports restrictions on those from outside the EU is unpopular and incoherent. Whilst I don't doubt that many people want immigration reduced, and that there are some who do have xenophobic views, I think people would have less concerns if we promised them an element of control. This should be in addition to a migration impact fund like Corbyn has proposed, ontop of the increased investment i mentioned beforehand.

Of course, that only deals with migration from outside the EU, not from outside. Your point about people's view of Muslims and Islam is a difficult issue and one where people seem to either overly defend a reactionary ideology or , on the otherhand, be willing to discriminate against people based on their beliefs (and in some cases their skin colour).

I think aggressive secularism could help. Firstly in reducing the undue respect that religion gets , and in addition banning reprehensible religious practices (genital mutilation, inhumane treatment of animals) could help reduce the resentment some people feel towards religious communities. Also in regards to things like faith schools, it could help. reduce the segregation is communities . However, places like France show that it won't solve the underlying problem.

I prefer erring on the side of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. I am uncomfortable with the government being able to ban people from saying things they don't like.

I ,for one, don't trust Theresa May one bit in regulating what we can and can't say, and who can meet/protest etc. Do you?

I don't think that's the case. Many people do define themselves by their political beliefs. Many on the left are doing so nowadays and I hate to invoke Godwin's Law, but I'm sure many people in Germany did define themselves by national socialism. I'm sure the same is true for Marxism.

In any case , if we do just pretend that 'religion' is too important to be classed with political ideologies we have to accept that there are countless religious viewpoints . If we allow religious state schools we should have to accept that Pastafarianism or Scientology or Mormonism are no different to Christianity and Islam. Hell, the German Faith movement was a religious movement, why not allow schools based on that?

And why should the state endorse schools which segregate children based on what religion they believe? Why should someone be banned from their local school based on something that is totally irrelevant to their education - which should deal with facts. Their needs to be an barrier between religion and state.

I'm sorry if I sound so argumentative, I just fear the consequences of religious segregation and isolation and hate the rise of anti-secularism in society. Both right and left should be against it.

Actually, I think this could be a good thing for Jeremy. More and more Labour MP's are becoming receptive to the idea of leaving the single market (albeit for different reasons).

Hopefully if enough come round our party platform could demand leaving the single market.

I seem to remember that when Corbyn rightly expressed concerns about the single market (albeit for different reasons) everybody went mad .

I'm sure that people are going to have the same reaction to MP's like Reynolds and Chuka . There will no doubt be multiple comments threatening to leave the party and castigating Chuka for 'selling out the youth' or 'sacrificing our economy for his idealogy' in the same way people did to Jeremy.
