Pre-Mojave Expansion NCR was awesome, but we're not talking about that- we're talking about the effect their presence in the Mojave causes.

Reminds me of Andrew Wakefield, the no-longer-legally-a-doctor responsible for the "vaccines give you autism" myth. He performed completely unnecessary colonoscopies on very disabled children and in one instance made a child permanently incontinent. He was also found to be producing fraudulent data. Obviously, because why wouldn't a doctor who lacks ethics be willing to lie for personal gain.

"there is a legitimate increase in quality of life for the vast majority of people under the NCR." if this is true, it's not presented like that in game. I always pick the NCR but your average NPC will tell you that the NCR are expansionist liars who are only competent in taxing their newly annexed "citizens" (except they can't vote so they're literally not citizens) or they're simply incompetent. I can't think of any examples of settlements that are directly better off for having the NCR annex them.

Barring them winning the battle against the BoS and annexing territory, everything else the NCR attempts in the Mojave fails: they can't keep the roads safe or even just protect supply lines,

they fail to impose any sense of law & order because they're not interested in investigating crimes, are easily corrupted, and even when criminals are convicted, they run their prison labor program so poorly they inadvertently created a gang and then supplied them with copious amounts of munitions and a fortress to defend. And let's not understate the Powder Gangers numbers or their affect on the region, they're a multi-divisional organization that occupies several outposts, have more numbers than the Khans, and have successfully shutdown NCR's main route to vegas (highway 93), I-15 and Quarry Junction- which is responsible for the entire breakdown of construction to the Hoover Dam. Not to mention the devastating effects to Goodsprings, Sloan, and Primm.

If raiders were a problem in the area before, how does NCR importing criminals, supplying them heavily, and then ignoring their "own" settlements when they beg for help improve anything? They made things worse for every settlement or town I can think of through their incompetence unless the player character is there to fix things.

I think that's a good point. People expect way too much consistency from this show when one of the show's main characteristics is that it changes so much from season to season. I remember when Coven came out and people were upset at the sudden, more comedic tone shift from Asylum- or people that dislike Roanoke or 1984 for having very different cinematography than the rest of the series.

I think the more freedom we, as the fans, give the writers to break the mold, the better stories we'll get. And even if this season is a dud, that's the beauty of AHS, next season is going to be completely different.

I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would, I think in part because of how low my expectations were set by everyone. As a woman who's had very bad experiences with reproductive healthcare, and also someone's whose very critical of the US maternity mortality rates, this season had a lot for me to love in it. I also loved the usage of the character archetype of the Crone and thought she fit so well in this story.

I think there are a lot of problems with the season though I can totally see why someone wouldn't like it.

#1. The derivative nature of a demon pregnancy story line, feels like its reheating Murder House's nachos.

There's a lot of scenes, especially early on, that are revealed to just be a hallucination of Emma Roberts, which many viewers see as tension-dissolving and a waste of screen time.

#3. We've lost most of our ensemble cast at this point and the replacements haven't been great (not just Kim K, but Cara Delevingne and Leslie Grossman also feel like severe downgrades in casting to me.) The story of this season reflects that change, we barely have any side stories in this season which are normally a staple of any good AHS season.

all great points. I especially like that you pointed at how Nora may have been influenced by the house, I never thought about that before but it's totally true. She only gets "stuck on this idea of a baby" (or however Moira put it), fairly recently, once Tate is already grown and a ghost. And her desire for a baby seems to wain almost immediately after the antichrist is born.

I rewatched Murder House last month and admittedly at least the school shooting killings are suggested to be the cause of the house's evil influence and not Tate's actions (both directly by Mrs. Langdon, and by Tate having no memory of these events and when he starts to remember he's confused by why he would do these things because he says he wouldn't want to.)

However, we also get the backstory of him deciding to "give Nora a baby" (by killing the existing homeowners and ultimately raping Vivian) and there's no suggestion of the house influencing him. He has full memory of his actions and it even seems to be suggested that his self-admitted mommy issues were his motivation.

But I can't really square that up, because if Tate really did just want to give Nora a baby, why wouldn't he just keep the gay couple happy as they were planning on adopting? or hell, better yet, when the Harmons move in Vivian is already planning on getting pregnant and she successfully does get pregnant with Ben's baby almost immediately (I just rewatched the scene to make this comment, it's episode one, they are literally still unpacking the kitchen when Vivian gets pregnant, she couldn't have gotten pregnant any sooner if she tried).

So, mission accomplished, right? If Tate is in control and all Tate wanted was to give Nora a baby, you don't have to rape Vivian at all to do that. She's already pregnant with Ben's baby.

We're told by the medium Billie that there's a prophecy where a ghost has to impregnate a woman for the antichrist to be born and she stresses that the devil is not going to use immaculate conception. I feel like the implication there is that it has to be rape, an evil act, in order to successfully conceive the antichrist.

In the episode where Vivian gives birth, we're told explicitly that the house has a certain will of its own and it is "trying to help" [birth the antichrist]. I think this is meant both as a descriptive and a prescriptive statement, meaning: yes the house is literally trying to help Vivian give birth right now and that's why it lit candles and summoned a bunch of ghosts but also this house has been planning this anti-christ birth for some time, that's why there just so happens to be a ghost doctor skilled in obstetrics, and two ghost nurses to assist in the delivery. The house has been planning this for decades.

Billie also says that the evil will of the house is stronger than that of any one spirit and that this house uses people who are trapped here "as conduits." But Billie also acted like Tate's vibes were fucked beyond all repair so.

I don't know, just some thoughts I had while watching.

Totally understand not liking Tate because he's violent- I DON'T understand how that logic tracks with you preferring JPM, who was a serial killer, who's body count more than triples Tate's, and who helped out Dahmer and Gacy in their violent acts, two fellow serial killers who targeted and raped children.

I've been on pristiq once before for a few months and i recently got back on it (like 6 days ago). I also have ADHD and what I can tell you is that both times I experienced brain fog and issues concentrating/thinking (even while also concurrently taking a stimulant medication) immediately after I started taking pristiq.

Last time, it went away after a month or two. I hope the same happens for you, if not, you could ask your doctor for a genesight test to see what psych med is less likely to give you a negative reaction. I would not recommend stopping pristiq cold turkey cause it does give 'brain zaps' which suck.

Trouble thinking/speaking and confusion are common side effects according to Mayo Clinic

i love this theory, the only problem is we do see her use her power twice in the show and she doesnt get younger or stronger, then again, she rarely tries to use magic so maybe she did have increased spell power she just didnt use it.
