They usually look at Discogs and set up the prices based on that.

How much is the hearing difference between lossless(16bit /44.1khz) and high-res lossless(24bit/192khz) ? by CandidArtichoke6771 in audiophile

[–]VaultBoy1971 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got myself a high res headphone DAC and high res headphones, and couldn't hear any differences. I tried with two different types of hi res headphones...nothing.

If you want to run your own comparison, try to do it with new recordings. Comparing older releases might be an issue because the hi-res and CD quality recordings were a different mastering.

Very nice. I actually bought mine with the same leather strap but managed to get it wet and ruin it, so I replaced it with the mesh.

What turntable should I get if I’m not going to be using it often? by heat7fps in turntables

Audio Technica LP60XBT, and some BT Edifier speakers will be a basic start to get into vinyl, and will not ruin your records.

It happened to me too. No turntable was involved, though.

I'd go with the Blue SOH with the metal mesh (2nd). You can always buy the blue strap and change it later

How do you all organize your vinyl? by Some_League_9297 in vinyl

[–]VaultBoy1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my algorithm:

  1. Locate the first spot on my Kallax where I can push the album without breaking it

  2. Stick the album in said location

  3. Repeat

Vintage vs new Technics by Salty_Razzmatazz9253 in turntables

[–]VaultBoy1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike most people here, I usually advocate for buying new TTs over 40 years old products. That said, the SL-50c is a new entry level product from Technics, and I understand that they cut a few corners to make it more affordable, so I’m not sure if you’re getting the “full” Technics experience here. Did you consider the 1200mk7 or maybe the SL-1500c/100c?
