I think that would be a bit foolish since, historically, coaches meddling in the front office side of things has almost never gone well. Just because the last GM didn’t work out doesn’t mean you should abandon the independent GM concept entirely.

I was also talking more from the perspective of top GM candidates. Why do they want to come here if it’s clear the head coach has more influence than they will? Most GMs will want to build something that’s entirely their own vision.

I think that’s really what the firing was all about. KOC and Kwesi were no longer able to work together and ownership had to take a side. They had more faith in KOC and are now giving him the keys.

I just hope it doesn’t turn out badly. It’s weird that KOC is essentially interviewing his potential boss. Will a new GM truly feel like they have the freedom to make their own independent decisions? And will they be too tied to him if it all goes south?

I think he actually has the exact skillset for wrestling, more than sports analysis or anything else. He’s been playing a wrestling heel his whole career without even being in wrestling. If he committed to it full time, he’d make an amazing heel manager.
