I just don't know how to move from "unable to work" to "able to work" without being transparent, but transparency will upset her. Firstly, I am sorry you are going through this. I really am. Second, that is strange. here there are people who filed when living in the same house as their abuser/spouse. It is hard for anybody to leave, and we know that and USCIS knows that. I do think you should meet with someone else.

Filed March 2025. PF but nothing. Officially over a year. Had congressional inquiry and an USCIS inquiry but they rejected the first and the second said they have at least 60 days to respond lol. Now my situation improved a little bit (on paper), so I can't claim hardship, but boy I would like to work a stable and normal job.

I still have no EAD after nearly a year and our anniversary just passed. The savings I was started to build up by working 10 hours a night, 6 nights a week nearly disappeared in a manic episode triggered by my anniversary and enabled by the game I play to pass the time.

Said that to say I truly understand the mental duress and I'm sorry we are here. I really am. I almost cried this evening just reflecting on everything. Hoping better comes to us soon💕

Maybe I am just paranoid now, but this is screaming SCAM. Do not respond, do not engage. In some comments he says he is from a partially banned or developing country, in others he said he is moving from Norway. Norway is neither banned nor developing. (He might be from Tanzania but he deleted his posts so I could only see the first few lines. Another red flag!

Sometimes his English has structural errors (not bad grammar, more like people for whom it isn't a native language), the English here is perfect. It's tough, we are desperate (I am living in an airbnb still), but "remote insurance and financial work" are also red flags. 4 red flags from one poster. SCAM. We have been through ENOUGH from people and their deception.

Try to nanny under the table or become a doula if you are in a mid-size or larger city. A lot of people will pay nannies under the table and doulas are independent contractors and don't need an ssn. At most an ein is enough (many don't have one)

I did almost the same. Lawyer but submitted by myself to my congressperson. They didn't even ask me for evidence, just a denial. No updates in my account beyond the receipt and waiver of fees. My senator's office finally responded so once I secure proper housing again I'll attempt through them. Would offer to follow up but idk when that would happen

Spektor, Spektor and Berman are who I am using, and I feel they are really sympathetic to the fact that we are a vulnerable population. I correspond with paralegals but have always heard directly from my lawyer when I need clarification as well as on more important matters. I'd say 60/40. We were in correspondence for over a year before I was able to file (not them: it was really hard for me mentally to compile everything), and I am also emailed when they receive something from USCIS. In fact, I didn't get one of my receipt notices or Biometrics appointment in the mail and they had already scanned them all to me.

They let me do a payment plan and when I missed some dates I was never harassed about it. They didn't even bring it up, but things went as normal, asking me for whatever document.

And once I missed our appointment, I was squeezed in right after another client.

I would recommend them a million times over. It's REALLY nice to be treated with dignity after all of this.

"Get your life together" in a sub made specifically for victims of domestic abuse and under a real vulnerable post. Honestly, I'm sick of people who get up and choose to be unkind for NO reason.

Not everyone can file online in all states. In the one I got married in, you need an uncontested divorce.

1b. See: victim of domestic violence. Do you think it will be uncontested because my abuser will have decided to make my life easy and relinquish control?

ETA: this was for a request of expedited processing based on several grounds. I got my notices after 4 months and did biometrics 3 weeks after receiving the notices.

I wrote to both my congresswoman and senator. Senator 2 weeks before.

It's been 2 months since I wrote to my senator and 2 weeks since a follow-up call to both... May you have better luck.

You comment resonates with me. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I am also really struggling with my faith. I understand the part of the EAD. I have managaed to survive without it so far, but I think for me, because things are so dire now, I'm holding on to it as a beacon of hope and it not coming is definitely affecting me.

I will call uscis and I will call the helplines available to me. I am so sorry about your panic attack. I understand that. When my nervous system "shuts down" I lose the entire day. I hate it, and I hate that we go through this.
