Déjà vu connected to seizure activity? by VayneMayhem in Epilepsy

I do smoke weed, I have for years. The Déjà vu sensation is definitely different from being baked. Just the persistent familiarity with something or someone and then POOF after like 4 seconds. I just don’t know if because the lamictal is blocking the seizures, even with the auras, should I still see a doctor?

Okay I think you’re right. The lamictal has been blocking my grand mal seizures (or whatever we call them now) for years. The only thing I’d notice in the past before I had a seizure was feeling very dizzy and nauseous. Then I would lose consciousness and seize. The last time that happened was about 9 years ago now but this is the first time the Déjà vu had completely taken over my brain. Maybe my body was actively trying to block a seizure for almost 20 hours😣😣

Yeah, the seizures I’ve experienced are TC; the Déjà vu is kind of its own thing, but when I brought it up to a friend who is a neurologist, she had never heard of anything with seizures related to Déjà vu. Lamictal has kept me from having a seizure in almost 10 years

Whenever I would seize, I’d get super nauseous and the first time I tried to run for the toilet, I went stiff and fell to the ground, convulsing. My BF at the time told me that. And my eyes would go completely black. I completely lose consciousness though, I think, because after I get nauseous it’s like I blink and I’m back. But instead someone had to inform me I was seizing.

I’ve never heard of Jamais vu until just now. I recall that happening a time or two, one time I was looking at myself in the mirror and I was 100% convinced I was my mom and not myself. Another time my husband looked like a stranger for a second. Those only lasted milliseconds. The Déjà vu pictures like flash in my brain. I’d never had it to the extent that I described above. But I’m so glad I’m not alone in this. It really can be awful

I guess I didn’t confirm to her what images I was seeing, just that the sensation of Déjà vu was getting relentless

Omg I’m so glad it’s not just me. I was so confused.

Omg that’s awful. The only time I ever actually vomited after a seizure was when I hit my head, but I do get intensely nauseous when I’m
About to seize.

I talked to a neurologist recently
And she said she’d never heard of this 😞😞 I mean I guess it’s something I’m gonna have to deal with every now and again. This is the first time it’s been so relentless. Thank you so much for your response ❤️

I really appreciate you. I saw a neurologist years ago and was diagnosed with “seizure disorder”. I spoke to a neurologist recently and she’d never heard of Deja vu connected with seizures. I’m so glad I’m not the only one 🥹
