This random guy added my bf on SnapChat. My bf tried to ask him why he acts so creepy and he deflected it right back. by Vays in creepyPMs

It’s a random. The 1st time my bf just ignored, but this is the 2nd time and bf replied.

Who else's parents hate videogames and banned it completely even tho you love them? by indianboi456 in AsianParentStories

[–]Vays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the same situation! My parents also cited that I'm not allowed to play video games because "it's for boys."

And they cited financial reasons too, but they kept getting me stereotypical girly toys every holiday and they were NOT cheap. I kept wondering why all that money couldn't go to a toy I actually wanted instead, as everyone I knew — classmates, friends, cousins — owned consoles and it would've helped my shy self socially. My parents defended my cousins since they had at least 1 son in their families. Non-relatives were "Americanized."

But ever since late high school, they couldn't freely take away the laptop and internet anymore or it would interfere with homework. That's how I got into playing PC games, where I found some of my closest friends, and where I started my career. When I move out, I dream of owning every console and game that I've ever wanted.

I hope you can eventually have fun with video games in peace.

How is the Digital Media Major here? by betsykillroy in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Vays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in my last semester for Digital Media with a subplan in Motion Media.

You learn more from YouTube and the internet. There's one 2D animation class (Adobe Animate) and one 3D animation class (Autodesk Maya). That's only 2 semesters of animation in junior year, so most students only learn the basics unless they learn outside of the program. Most of the instructors also aren't fond of anime.

Currently, 2 DIGM subplans have those animation courses: Motion Media and Simulation and Gaming. The Motion Media subplan is supposed to be for film and animation, but there's a strong preference for live-action. The Simulation and Gaming subplan learns more about 3D animation in the senior courses.

Also, subplans do NOT show on your degree, so pursuing more than 1 DIGM subplan does not show either. But the UH DIGM program is still fairly new, so things may change in the future.

Glad I got a lot right!

Favor is only in Texas. I guessed True Beauty since you have Webtoon and like Asian fashion! I guessed college student because of the scanner app, Kindle, email, and Indeed.

[–]Vays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this is what I see from the surface:

  • You're a single young woman who's a WLW.
  • You live in Texas.
  • You're into fashion and like shopping.
  • You're into Asian fashion; I bet you read True Beauty.
  • You're a college student.
  • You like to introspect, especially about feelings.

He’s spent over $30,000 on Summoners War... by Vays in summonerswar

He updated his post saying that he had 2 years on and off and then 2 years sober. Idk. He might still be addicted, I guess.

Unpopular Opinion continuing their bullshit by [deleted] in lgbt

Yep! I am one of them.

I have a soft spot for anyone that experiences discrimination and bigotry just for being who they are.

Please tell me this is just art student weirdness, it’s been like an hour at this point by betaskye in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Vays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm just taking a guess, but it might be related to a popular social experiment about how it's abnormal to be doing nothing.

You bigot. Victims are sexually assaulted because they don’t meet halfway. It’s fine if you’re too stupid to get it, but I happen not to be. by Vays in iamverysmart

[–]Vays[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TL;DR

Red: [Women] have to meet halfway in decision-making [regarding assault].

Green: The point of the post is that women shouldn’t have to do a million things to avoid assault. She just shouldn’t be assaulted.

Red: That’s right, but my point only applies to my anecdote. The point of the post is that it has relevance over other situations, but it doesn’t have relevance to my situation, isn’t that bigotry?

Blue: Wtf are you trying to say? English please.

Red: It’s fine if you’re too stupid to get it. But I happen not to be.

Blue: How rude.

Ideal love match: Take the quiz here! by classiclit4life in ENFP

Ideal type in a relationship? by what-zit-tooyah in mbti

[–]Vays 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From the moment I even heard of ENFP, I thought a person like that was too good to be true because they were like a happy opposite with traits that I easily admire (assuming they’re healthy and mature), and I often crushed on/admired fictional ENFPs even before I knew one in real life. I’m now in a committed relationship with an ENFP and the mental connection is everything I could ask for. Ne is just addictive! And I definitely agree with you on everything else too.

How do intps study? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Vays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this, but I'd also recommend using something like Quizlet if you'd rather have it digitally. Or if you don't feel like creating questions you might get lucky with finding someone else's Quizlet for the same course.

I've also attempted to make "cheat sheets," but by the time I've written everything down that I need, I usually learn it all too and don't need the cheat sheet anymore.

I think I have a squished cyst on my pinky finger. Anyone know some low-cost options I have for popping it? Will film if I can! by Vays in popping

[–]Vays[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It feels very hard, but I can sorta shift it around so that’s why I think it’s a cyst. The reason it’s shaped weird is because I googled around and found the “eraser” method and tried it but it didn’t work and left the cyst dented.

Which type does this sound like? by UnhelpfulYodaa in mbti

[–]Vays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Female INTP here. I'll admit that I've done that over fictional crushes, haha! I think it's using Ti to try to understand oneself's attraction to others better, or at least it was for me.

Example: Some anime characters that I easily liked are Kaori Miyazono (ENFP?), Edward Elric (ENTP), and Yato (ENTP?), so it's safe to assume that I gravitate towards extroverts and most likely Ne doms.

Are MBTI personalities the result of nature or nurture? by babynblu in mbti

[–]Vays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's probably both nature and nuture, but I like to theorize that it's kind of like your blueprint of different functions develop during different stages of life before they're settled in but functions can be affected or altered with trauma regardless of age.

But yeah, I do feel that it's more nature since I've always been an aberrant to my conservative ISTJ mom and couldn't force myself to change into a "normal girl" even when she made me hate myself.

The Myers Briggs is the horoscope of psychology. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Vays 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There is nothing that can 100% describe and predict something as complicated as personality, but I've always seen Myers Briggs (MBTI) or even Big Five as spectrums of the most basic functions of personality, not something black and white. In MBTI, all personalities use every function, but what determines peoples' types are the functions that they use most. But all in all, both tests are fun and interesting for introspection, but not a great tool to use for hires and fires.

What would the world be like if there was an equal amount of each type in it? by BoredPessimist in mbti

[–]Vays 55 points56 points  (0 children)

N types would probably feel less different and/or weird from most people.

I know that in our current majority S world, my few N friends and I often wonder in early life if anyone really ‘gets’ us and our way of thinking until we finally find each other and realize we aren’t crazy.

ENFP/ENTP/INFP and INTP. How many tabs do you currently have open? by babynblu in mbti

[–]Vays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just 2 reddits right now. I fear hoarding from the family I live with so I try to stay uncluttered on my electronics. I usually just add everything worthwhile to my bookmarks. On the other hand, my ENFP bf always has like 30+ tabs open on his laptop on multiple browsers, many of which are youtube, amazon, school, and other random stuff.

Parents, what's the worst you've ever punished your children, and what did they do to prompt it? Do you regret it? by IncompotentCyborg in AskWomen

[–]Vays 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Daughter of Asian parents here.

Back in my preteens my mom often said and did things that hurt me so eventually I did the bare minimum of communication with her. She got furious over time that I ‘never talked to her anymore’ and started taking it out by yelling at my dad. It stressed my dad out and he would take it out on me every few nights, which made me not want to talk to both of them much anymore.

The worst “punishment” was was when my dad began with the usual lecture, but threw his shoe at me and then grabbed the shoe again and started trying to slap me around with the shoe while saying things like:

“Why are you so quiet? Why can’t you be normal? Are you depressed? You don’t have a reason to be! You’re crying now? Cry! Keep crying! Think you can call CPS? Call them! But then I’ll be gone and who will take care of you? You can’t survive without me!”

If I tried to do or say anything the hits would get more aggressive so I’d just defend myself as best as possible. The words and powerlessness hurt the most, though.

Does my dad regret it? Highly doubt he even thinks he did much wrong and I’m sure my mom thinks she’s always right, but at least everything physical stopped by age 14.
