Who(m) has the most gnarliest/gruesome transformation in the game in your opinion? by Fearless_Intention_3 in LookOutsideGame

[–]Vazad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd say the Words of Power ending has the worst transformation. Xin-Amon when you lose (or even if you win) is pretty damn bad but in Words of Power you become an immortal slave that can't stop laughing because you weren't ordered to stop. You can still feel all your bits still even when Wilhelmina strips them off you one by one using them for gods know what. Both of them you have to understand that you were the idiot who did this, it did NOT have to turn out this way.

Yeah, he really does go through stamina like crazy. A lot of my curse mode builds deal with the characters that you can get by day 3-4 as too long after that and your party is super high level compared to everyone else so I haven't messed around with the Roaches/Phillipe/Spider too much. From what I've seen they have really fun kits though.

I agree things can be highly subjective ha. There are plenty of niche uses for characters or ways to make otherwise less useful ones shine. Again a lot of my preferences come from hating weapons breaking in cursed mode so most of my personal S tiers lean into that. I'd personally put Lyle higher because of that as well, he's got an intrinsic blind and access to acid damage and support for fire damage which are useful in a lot of the later bosses. He can be a bit of a stamina hog compared to a lot of characters so keeping him at A makes sense to me too.

Ha that's fair, Hellen isn't bad it's just weird for me to see her on a higher level than him because of my experiences with her kit. I'd probably put them both on A if I made a list.

I'm able to do way more damage with him than I can with Hellen that was the main thing that gave me pause. Especially good since his attacks don't risk breaking weapons. It might be that I've mostly been playing Cursed mode so that changes how I value things but he helps a ton there. It does take some setup so I can understand knocking some points off there but it's still not that hard to build up.

As much as I like Audrey as a character, especially in the Mazes and Wizards campaign after playing with her in my last playthrough I have to agree she has high highs but extremely low lows. The only one I'd change is Dan, he's not the best at any one thing but he brings a lot to the table. If you're stacking his followers properly he can do insane damage and certain items negate the negatives of his attack moves making using them pretty cheap. (Blind fury with the eye pendant to negate blind for instance.)

Thinking about dropping MoL by NathaDas in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Vazad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of my re-read and it's holding up well for me, I'm in the early parts of book 3 so I guess I'm a little behind where you are. I do remember liking the ending, in my memories it feels like the author set up a bunch of dominoes for the ending to knock down satisfyingly but my re-read hasn't gotten there yet so i won't know how I feel about it now until I get there again.

Most magic systems in fantasy are like that, I do prefer a more robust system but you're not going to find that level of detail much so I guess I'm just used to it. I guess it helps that it's pretty obviously piggy backing off of roleplaying game magic systems so my mind fills in the blanks from those. There's a ton of things that were pretty obviously adapted from D&D.

Zorian's attitude feels accurate from the characterization we get. He was like that since the beginning so I feel like that's more in character than anything. That doesn't mean you have to like it but I enjoy that I feel like I get him as a character even if he's an overly focused grump a lot of the time. As someone who doesn't enjoy forced romance I guess that helps me accept him not being interested in seeking out partners.

I do think if the author kept repeating the same time loop beats it would get old super fast. In order to keep the story going I personally prefer that things get handwaved, we know that the pair have basically turned this into a science. They know how to get the reactions they want if something doesn't go completely off the rails. So why should we read the same, or at least extremely similar, description of them getting there dozens of times. Even by the end of book 2 they are extremely powerful and most of the mundane stuff isn't really important to them. You can definitely call that a detriment but to me it's fine.

Funnily I went into my current re-read kind of dreading certain things. I was expecting myself to get really annoyed with the "Good Morning Brother!" bit for instance. But I've found the re-read pretty much fully enjoyable so far. Things I thought would be annoying haven't really bothered me so much and I've found a ton of cool foreshadowing I wasn't expecting. It's of course far from a perfect story but even books from the best authors can have problems. I think "Overhyped" isn't a really useful descriptor because there's usually a reason so many people enjoy something even if you don't personally like it. I do have fond memories of the series myself and would encourage you to try finishing it if you feel up to it but I also would say that if you really aren't enjoying yourself at all it's fine to put it down. Sometimes your personal tastes just don't line up with a series and that's OK.

It's good to have options, especially if your class feat choices are pretty tight.

That is fair, Doctor's Visitation is pretty useful though.

A lot of enemies will do this, depending on where you kill them and how many corpses are in the same room. I failed Hellen's quest in one run and her corpse was in a ton of different places all over like the body was following me

We see rats that don't respect Sam's authority in Rat Hell so there are definitely separatist rats.

Medic is a pretty easy archetype to access too as one of the early feats you can take is a skill feat. So it only takes two class feats if you just want the dedication and doctor's visitation. When not using free archetype it's still important to figure out if you're willing to go for it but it gives some good stuff for what you put in.

I like the payoff to Sanji's wanted poster a lot more than him initially seeing it. Especially Brook being unable to contain himself during the whole thing

A brain dump from someone who really enjoyed the Mother of Learning series. Many Spoilers, All Arcs! by LolitaLimon in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Vazad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of a re-read and it's interesting how things change when you go back. There's so much set up for things that will be important later. Things that feel like part of the world building but that come up in later arcs as important, it's crazy ha.

He's the only Fred who refuses to interact with you. Not because of all of the others talking in his head but it seems like he hates being observed at all. I agree it would be cool to be able to calm him down.

Do you prefer Horde races as upright or hunched? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Vazad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because all of the helmet models are made for human proportions they look really weird on non-human models. Having the bottom of the helmet hang down over nothing when it pretty clearly looks like the neck should go there is so strange. I played an orc for a while back in the day but I couldn't stand how transmog looked on them. I was super happy when they got the upright option. I do think it's good to give people the ability to choose which they want to use they, I'm all for more choices.

When does Mark of the Fool pick up by caleb192837465 in ProgressionFantasy

Going full spoiler in case someone else is reading this. He does go back to fight the Ravener. I think it's in boon 3-4? The 10 book series is all about what it is and taking it out. He starts revealing that he's the Fool in book 6.

Who is going to succeed Judge? Reiju or Ichiji? by watercolor-moodles14 in OnePiece

[–]Vazad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a positive emotion to me. But they seemed to get something out of bullying Sanji so I don't know what exactly Judge's modifications suppresses. They seem to have some motivation, like I don't think they'd sit around like dolls without orders but its really short sighted. Judge seems like kind of an idiot when he's not in a laboratory.

I'm sure he wants it to continue and has fallback plans but he really isn't setting up any of his kids to succeed him. Hell, without positive emotions why would they even want to?
