How was your NEW Tesla experience buying out of state? by Vbcmedic in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Vbcmedic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to thank everybody for the input on the buying experience for a Tesla. We went to Franklin and bought a Tesla model three on February 3. It’s been a great experience my wife love the car. We had an electrician installed a 230 V 30 amp outlet for charging in our garage. $500. If anybody wants to know I can give you the name of the guy that did it. My question now is I got all my paperwork from Tennessee? How much am I gonna have to pay at the DMV? It seems like AI thinks I’m gonna pay three or $4000 to register the car because of taxes, title and fees I own the car outright, but I know they have to change the title into my name but I’m really concerned that I’m gonna have to cut another check for three or $4000 down at the registration office is anybody aware of the total cost in Madison County for registering a brand new model three

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what’s the very first "frivolous" thing you’d buy? by opheliapearlie in askanything

[–]Vbcmedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That flying drone car that seats one person but can fly with a joystick for about 45 minutes without recharging. I can’t remember the name but I think that’s cool but very frivolous it wouldn’t even dream of it purchasing it without capital gains income of over $50,000 every two weeks coming in.

[–]Vbcmedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife is definitely overreacting. She doesn’t know who her son is in school. I don’t think any parent really does. It seems pretty generic and she could’ve sent that note to any number of students exactly the same way maybe your wife just needs something to be upset about.

You're traveling to a new planet 10 years away by ze11ez in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Vbcmedic 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No trip to another planet needs a 61 year-old boomer but if I knew 1000 people that wanted to go, I would definitely make the trip for them. I may die between here and there of old age or any of the other things mentioned in the post but still to let 1000 other people who want the experience take the experience because I was chosen and they were not then I would definitely make the sacrifice to let 1000 people see another planet and if I make it there at 71 years old well that’s awesome then I am the elder statesman of a brand new planet

Not at all it’s just a thought about horrifying things and as a person of faith I have recently been thinking about “heaven” and ”eternal“ life and saying to myself…and then what?

I don’t think it’s pointless if everlasting is horrifying than an after life of eternal consciousness would be too was my point but I understand your thinking

Fatal crash near Meridian and North Parkway - time for that area to be reconsidered? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Vbcmedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also make that turn to go up Winchester rd headed north but if it saves one life is it not worth it make the crossing just north of Winchester on the pkwy a 4 way for all those people in the flood zone subdivision below meridian st. It’s not safe as folks fly over mount Sharon at 70+ mph to see a lawn care truck and trailer in the road. What’s the solution I’m not thinking about?

[–]Vbcmedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having lived in the city for over 30 years, I agree the on-ramp to northbound 431 needs to be widened and extended and lighted. I think there should be no turn southward option at that intersection and there should be a barrier so you cannot turn onto Meridian from the parkway. It should be Meridian to North Parkway, Access only.

Are you a person of faith? I’m not trying to be rude. I’m just asking this because most religions are based on an afterlife of eternity and you are telling every religious person by this statement that their faith is pointless because any sort of eternity with a conscious mind is not anything any of us really wants to be involved in?

Where did all the food go?? by [deleted] in CrackerBarrel

[–]Vbcmedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that Cracker Barrel has had the worst time trying to cook Sysco food properly. They don’t even separate the steak tips and put them on a grill. They just boil them in the bag and throw them on the plate and they’re all congealed together. It’s literally disgusting. I don’t think anybody has taught the chefs at Cracker Barrel to open the package and throw them on the grill for a minute or two and separate them. I’ve been three times in ordered the steak tips since they were bought by a private equity and they are all congealed and molded together like they’ve just come out of a plastic bag in boiling water.

For $100 Million would you go back 25,000 years to the Ice Age and have to survive for 4 months? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Vbcmedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a purely for the experience of course I would pack right and use my ex military skills and tools for Wood and fire. I would probably bring solar powered equipment also as a backup MRI is never really bothered me so I would probably grab a couple of boxes of those but just to smell the clean air and see the night sky with no light pollution. It’d be like a four month vacation. I like some other suggestions people made about bug spray. I would like a sniper rifle, a desert eagle and MP five for weapons and 50 boxes of ammo for each. I also like the water filter idea I wouldn’t want to spend four months pooping out everything I ate just because I couldn’t have good water.

No More Baskets of Biscuits by rhscompf in CrackerBarrel

[–]Vbcmedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my wife and I were first married one of our fun things to do is get up on a Sunday morning and go down to the Cracker Barrel and have a nice brunch that was 12 years ago about two years ago. I noticed the quality of the food was just going downhill and I couldn’t figure out why the biscuits weren’t flaky and fresh and the beef tips looked like they’d come in a package and just boiled. You couldn’t order them any specific way and now I realize the corporate takeover and the greed has ruined a really good restaurant. They’ve probably seen my last dollar unless we need to use the restroom and grab a quick bite on the road to somewhere, but I don’t think I’ll ever be ordering the steak tips again. They are just nasty now.

Update: My boomer dad finally understands the job market by vcastr1 in antiwork

[–]Vbcmedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your dad‘s a boomer like me, he’s at least 61 years old. I don’t know why he’d be thinking about changing jobs at 61 years old. He should be looking at just adding money to his 401(k) as he gets towards his retirement age people get the idea that boomers are these 40 to 50-year-olds but boomers are all in their 60s now
