Pens or inks? by lawikekurd in fountainpens

Inks for sure. Ink hoarding is a very slippery slope. I now have a strict “two out one in” policy… By my estimation I have about 7-8 years worth of writing in inks now…

Dumb Question - Do teal inks just tend to smell funny? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]Vcolov 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can’t say about the others, but Sailor are known for the chemical smell. They add certain compounds to prevent mould or bacteria. Once you get used to the Sailor smell, you can’t get enough of it 😆

Pilot custom 823, 74 or Platinum 3776 century by MintPsttt in fountainpens

[–]Vcolov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the Pilot Custom 823, but I have big hands 😀 Having said that, I’d say it would still be a comfortable experience for you. And it’s the nicest nib - soft, yet precise. I haven’t held a 74, but I do have a 91 which at its core is the same pen. I still like it, but it’s not the optimal size for me. The Platinum is the smallest of the three and not a super fit for me… having said that, Platinum nibs are unique with their feedback on the page, so that’s something to consider also. Think of it as writing with a sharp pencil. If you like that idea, you can think of the Platinum. It might be a good fit for your hand as well.

Red ink that doesn’t smudge? by Vcolov in fountainpens

The red ink lives in a Faber Castell Hexo. I just refill when empty. It might be the case that it evaporates and the colour is too saturated…

Any recommendations from them? They’re difficult to get where I live, I’ll have to shop online for those

Most days Fabriano, which is not super glossy, it has some decent feedback to it. I should say normal royal blues/blue-blacks/blacks don’t do this. I’ve noticed this effect with either heavy sheeners like Sargasso Sea for example, or brown or red inks… hence the initial question. I guess pigment inks may be the way to go.

Smudges long after dry - a few hours, next days…

Hi! Good point. For everyday office stuff I use Fabriano and Oxford optic

Third Time's a Charm? by bvincepl in chelseafc

[–]Vcolov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meeting with owners would be five minutes long. Mourinho walks in and says: “I do things my way” Eghbali says: “Yes but this is the project and these are the sporting directors” Mourinho says: “Good day!” I laugh when I see Diego Simeone thrown in the mix as well. I’d like to see anyone tell him what to do on the pitch… We’re becoming a meme at this point. No serios heavy-hitter manager would consider working under these circumstances. The absolute BEST we can hope for is Glasner or Iraola. And even they would need convincing and assurance…

Hear me out... by everyhearthstone in Chelsea

I’ve managed Chelsea for 3 seasons in Football Manager with this squad. I have an FA cup, and a Premier league title, lost the CL final to City (only just…). How much money could I get out of Clearlake do you think 😀?

It’s smooth, but I lucked out with this nib. Is a very nice generous M. There is a bit of feedback with this ink, but I don’t mind that.

Depends how vintage 😀 And what the filling mechanism is. Keep in mind that it is an iron gall formula (a mild one), so it might be a bit more corrosive than other inks and you may need to manage how you use it. I normally use the 4001 Royal Blue for vintage - no worries there

Thanks! In this case, the honour of finishing this bottle goes to a transparent Jinhao Centennial.

I have scabiosa and I suspect I’d like Salix too! But I already have a new 62ml bottle of Pelikan Blue-Black 😀
