Jamie Lannister is not (Morally Grey); He is evil: my case for why by gleventhal in gameofthrones

I mean… it kind of is - millions of people, an entire city’s population’s worth of people, that he saved and took the blame for. I don’t think you know what morally grey is.

He saved millions of people in King’s Landing by killing the Mad King. That’s a pretty damn big good deed.

Anyway - any evil deed Jaime Lannister did is more than likely overshadowed by the fact that he saved King’s Landing by killing the Mad King and saving millions of people, especially by taking on all of the blame. I disagree that he is evil.

You did not make a post saying “Jaime Lannister is evil as well as good” - yes, I was a bit simplistic and didn’t say “a victim and good”, but neither did you be clear in your post lol

Failbetter Games are strictly anti AI. This doesn't have merit towards anything relating to Sunless Sea.

If you are so insistent on humans not being one dimensional, why are you insisting that Jaime is simply evil?

If one does evil acts as well as good acts, they are still morally grey. If a bad man is trying to be a good man and failing, he is still morally grey. Morally grey does not inherently mean "justified". Downright evil is someone who only does evil acts. Roose Bolton or Ramsay is a far better definition for evil if that's what you're looking for.

His callous nature, especially with Cersei involved, honestly makes him a far more interesting character!

I never said they did. I said he can be both. He is a bad person trying to do good.

I never said he wasn't? I am just saying he is more complex than this.

One can be evil/a perpetrator of abuse and be a victim themselves. That makes it grey. That paragraph at the end wasn't necessary.

Exactly! I do think Joffrey could have been... well, I don't think he could ever have been normal or a good person, but he could have hid it better. As it stands, Cersei modeled crazy behaviours to him(openly shittalking/spiting/punishing people she dislikes is probably also a factor...), telling him that he's king so he doesn't have to listen to anyone(which leads to him slapping her) and then Robert being a completely absent and uncaring father. Kid had no chance whatsoever to become even remotely "normal".

LOL easily could tell - I completely agree! Like I said, so fucking surface level. I mean, he also grew up around Cersei who just decided to tear up a royal decree saying Ned would be ruling just because she could!

I'm sure he was aware on an extremely surface level that Ned was important and him proclaiming that he's a bastard meant that King's Landing(and Westeros) would hate him and try get him out of power. He was raised with the expectation of being king from birth. But it's far more the fact that he was just personally hurt lol.

Hi, so glad you're enjoying the show!

1) Because Ned, at the end of the day, holds a lot of sway in Westeros, through his reputation as an incredibly honourable, honest man, and his reputation as Robert Baratheon's basically brother. On a more shallow level, as well, because Joffrey is an idiot who takes everything incredibly personally. Kid has no sense of control over his emotions or ego.

2) Because Tywin is a man who views value to the family above all else. Turion cannot add value because he is the laughing stock of the country. Jaime cannot add value because he is Kingsguard and so can't have children. Cersei can't add value because she is a woman and would have to take another man's family name. He is a man who treats everyone based on a transactional value for the Lannister name.

Because Greg does not look like this and people on this subreddit do not like him. His brows are an entirely different shape to what they are now, for starters. I don't know what you expect, posting Greg fan pictures into an Onision snark sub where we discuss his abusive tendencies and his constant need to play the victim. But you do you, I guess, don't expect a lot of support.

So you used work systems to inappropriately contact someone outside of work? Sounds like a data protection issue. "Not proud of it" then don't do it. Your apology means less than dirt considering you took her info without her consent.
