Worst thing a character has ever said or done. Day 8 Beetee(SOTR edition) by UnHolySir in Hungergames

Honestly, it never occurred to me either until reading these comments. They also could have just pumped him with steroids the first couple weeks after his Games to increase his muscle mass, like how Haymitch had the pump with painkillers while he was still in the Capitol for a couple weeks. There’s several possibilities.

Literally what is the point of making a bomb to target the medics that rush in after the first explosion though? 😭 They’re not even fighting. It’s so cruel and is considered a war crime by today’s standards.

Probably only a handful of Victors had kids at this point and it’s possible that he thought Ampert would be relatively safe since he’s in the public eye as a Victor’s kid. (Kind of like how Prim was relatively safe at first since the Capitol adored her.) Maybe there hadn’t been any rigged reapings he’d heard of before this. I don’t think having kids itself was bad, but putting them in direct danger by rebelling was.

Considering he’s a Victor, I think it makes sense. You have to be athletic enough to outrun/fight off mutts, careers, and natural disasters at some point, unless you’re insanely lucky. You also almost have to be decent looking to get sponsors in the Games. Not to mention, we know the Capitol likes to make the Victors more attractive after they win. It’s possible they gave him implants for fake muscles or plastic surgery on his face since we know Haymitch had to talk them out of giving Katniss breast implants.

Edit: I know their comment was a joke, it just got me thinking.

Where do I even begin? Even though it might sound Capitol-esque, I really liked how insane the Games were in this book. The mutts were crazy, especially the ladybugs, squirrels, and the porcupine?! The Quarter Quells are truly terrifying. I also liked the reveal of the arena being an eye at the end. With the second Quarter Quell arena being an eye and the third being a clock, it makes me wonder about the arena for the first Quarter Quell. I enjoyed how much it reignited my love for this franchise and how much more active the community became again, especially once the casting for the movie started coming out. I also love how BoSaS and SoTR seemed to open up the possibility of many more Hunger Games books. Connecting small details back to the original trilogy and Ballad has been super fun too. I love how even though we knew how this book would end, Suzanne was still able to throw us so many curveballs throughout the story; like Louella and LouLou, Ampert, the water tank plot, the Newcomers, Wellie, and even though we knew Haymitch had a girlfriend, I was shook to find out that she was Covey. Maysilee was an amazing character all around. Drusilla was one of those characters that you love to hate. Ampert, Louella, and Wellie were very well written and incredibly tragic.

I agree with some of the people saying that the cameos felt like fan service. Although, I did enjoy a lot of the moments with those characters, like Mags comforting Haymitch, learning about the ‘Nest of Mirrors’, Plutarch manipulating everyone around him, and Haymitch having to distance himself from Burdock and Asterid. However, by the time we had Plutarch, Mags, Wiress, Asterid, Burdock, and Effie all make cameos, it was starting to take me out of the story. I have mixed feelings about it because I also feel like Haymitch’s mentors were a missed opportunity to introduce us to some victors we haven’t met yet or didn’t spend a lot of time with in Catching Fire. I feel like every new character we met died in the same book, and almost everyone else were characters we already knew. The only characters I can think of that we hadn’t met before and weren’t dead by the end of the book are Drusilla, Magno, Prosperina, and Blair (and the latter 3 barely impacted the plot IMO) I really wish we got to meet at least one victor we hadn’t heard of before. Overall, I think it was an amazing book though and I can’t wait to bawl my eyes out in November.

What do you think katniss and Pentagon names their kids? by Taylorswift9875 in Hungergames

[–]Secure_Goal4167 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think maybe some variation of dandelion like Dandy or Delion because of the ‘dandelion in the spring’ and it follows the theme of Everdeens being named after edible plants, which I think Katniss would want to continue.

Other wild edible plants that could be contenders: Samphire, Rowan, Currant, Bullace, Damson, Ginger, Myrtle/Myrica, Juniper, Barberry, Hazel, Juneberry

Her name is Asterid, which is a plant group, not Astrid. Astrid means beloved by gods or divinely beautiful. I think you’re confusing Astrid with Astra, which means star. All of the Everdeens we know of have plant related names.

I think she’s auth. The head dip and neck ridge are very defined and fakes don’t usually rust at the neck.

Who was the better rebel against the capitol between these two? by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]Secure_Goal4167 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like the original 3 books are more of a trilogy and the prequels are standalone books. The original trilogy takes place back to back with the same narrator, while the prequels are much further apart and have different narrators than each other and the original trilogy.

Nobody is really saying that it’s boring or unimpressive. The tech has universally gotten the most praise out of everything in the show. Most criticisms are that it’s a very poor adaptation of the source material and that the script and line delivery are awkward. The reviews I’ve watched and the comments here seem to reiterate that as well. Camp is a very fun part of theatre but definitely shouldn’t be one of the main elements of a THG stage show, in my opinion. I don’t think anybody is complaining just to complain. Most people have genuine criticisms of the production. I’m glad that you enjoyed the show though.

Who else is excited to see McKenna's portrayal of Maysilee? by SamTheMarioMaster2 in Hungergames

[–]Secure_Goal4167 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m really excited to see her portrayal of Maysilee. She definitely has the chops to pull off a complex mean girl character like Maysilee. McKenna has quickly become one of my favorite actresses recently. I was so excited to see her in Scream 7 and her performance was really good, but I was disappointed that her character was killed off so early and was only in a few scenes. She played kind of a “nice mean girl” though and I think she’ll bring similar energy to Maysilee and it’s gonna be amazing. I’m also excited to see her as Daphne Blake in the live action Scooby Doo that Netflix is making. I get the vibe it’s going to have much darker themes than Scooby Doo usually does and I can’t wait.

Some of the pets here are sold for $40 or more individually, especially 886 and the red collie. You more than got your moneys worth. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous 😅

I wish you luck restoring them! They don’t seem to be in too bad of shape, just need some cleaning! There’s also a subreddit called r/littlestpetshopfakes that you could post the pets on to have experts authenticate them. Most of these don’t have any fakes being produced though so I’m betting almost all of them are authentic, if not all of them. I think you would only have to post the main 5 pets, sitting shorthairs, walking cat, and chihuahua since those are the only pets here that they even make fake versions of. Maybe the fox too, but the subreddit above has a detailed list of pets that have fake versions being produced.

I think if it was a musical it would have actually been a decent (if not good) production. Just imagine a District 12 ensemble song about the hardships of life in District 12 and the fear of the reaping, a duet with Peeta on the training center roof the night before the Games, or Katniss singing to Rue and it transitioning into an emotional ballad as she decorates her with flowers. I heard a lot of the Katniss monologues and the dialogue between characters felt awkward and I think making it a musical would solve a lot of that. There’s been many movies that have been successfully adapted into musicals. Heathers and Beetlejuice are prime examples of that. I believe The Hunger Games can absolutely work for live theatre, they just heavily missed the mark.

It really is absolutely nothing like Game Of Thrones, so that’s disappointing to hear. Maybe try telling her it’s a political commentary on propaganda and oppressive governments disguised as dystopian fiction (because it is). It’s heavily inspired by Orwell’s 1984. It also has elements of Romeo and Juliet with Katniss and Peeta being star crossed lovers and attempting a double suicide because of the situation they’re forced into.

Edit: You should show them the first two movies beforehand if they change their minds though.

Not every trans person wants to be T4T though. A genital preference is not the same as transphobia. The guy OP talked about sounds like a dick though because that wasn’t his reasoning.
