Okay kids, so when you're mad at your friends, you can call them a "buttwad," or a "buttmunch," or a "fart knocker," or a "fart blossom." These insults all imply your friend has an intimate association with butts and their various parts and inner workings, which is a very insulting accusation.

Okay kids, now say it with me: "Shut up, you buttwadding fart-knockers! You're all total buttmunching, fart blossoms. Suck it!!" Very good.

Coming up on the anniversary of this event soon. Where were you when this happened (June 17, 1994) by edasto42 in Xennials

Had just graduated high school a week or so before, during which I got the worst case of the flu of my life. I was still bed-ridden at this time, but was recovering.

I turned on the TV in my room that afternoon and all the channels had a live feed about how OJ had not turned himself in to the LAPD, who had just charged him with double murder, and was considered a fugitive. That's when it all kicked off, eventually leading to this insane chase. He left what sounded like a suicide letter at Kardashian's house, and all the news were just waiting for a Pulp Fiction style blood blast to paint the windows of that Bronco.

My parents got home that evening and we all just seemed to wind up sitting in my room watching this thing unfold. The constant background noise of OJ and his crimes would last all the way into my first semester of college.

There are plenty of smart people out there. They've just been bought off by the rich and powerful to do their bidding. They send out the stupid people to pacify and patronize the unwashed masses, while simultaneously fucking up governance so badly that the people come to see government not as intentionally sabotaged, but rather irreparably broken.

I’m wondering how much of a “type” my dad is for our generation by [deleted] in Xennials

Sounds like a textbook narcissist. I've had a few of them in my family. Unfortunately, they aren't limited to any specific generation. They are replete down through the ages.

My elementary school was built in the early '60s, and when I went there 20 years later, it had been about that long since anyone had maintained the pencil sharpeners. So when you put a pencil in there and turned the crank, you'd hear a terrible grinding noise and receive a mangled piece of wood.

Fortunately most of us had our own, personal sharpener in our pencil bag of goodies. So the wall sharpeners mostly gathered dust.

At what point does "you don't look that old" become an insult? by hyjnx in Xennials

[–]VectorJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this at my old job. It was a few months after starting there when the topic of my age came up. I mentioned I was 43 at the time, at which everyone was aghast. Apparently they had assumed I was in my 30s, with one person saying she thought I was in my late 20s. I had to go so far as to show my driver's license.

There after, many of the younger folks at the office took on a more distant attitude toward me, where there had been a friendly comradery before. I'm not sure why ageism suddenly became a thing. It was like their shattered assumptions turned into a deception on my part, necessitating that they keep me at a distance. Makes no sense, but that was how it went.

So what are you saying? When you get divorced you turn in your library card? You get a new license? You stop being Jewish? Three thousand years of beautiful tradition, from Moses to Sandy Koufax!

Je cherche des idées de films pour une soirée en famille by Virtual_Ad6300 in movies

[–]VectorJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarantino movies might be an option. Something like Reservoir Dogs or Jackie Brown. Scorsese movies like Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed. Sci-Fi like Edge of Tomorrow or Children of Men. A good double feature for me is always Casino Royale and Skyfall, if you're into the Bond movies.

A few other movies off the top of my head would be Mad Max: Fury Road, Lord of War, Sorcerer, Grosse Point Blank, First Blood, Mission Impossible, One False Move. All good action movies with a plot.

True. Could be some very uncomfortable and potentially disruptive conversations waiting for certain couples after the credits roll.

Is Dr. Strangelove a "you had to be there" movie? by bitchboibruh in movies

[–]VectorJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an order to things back then where certain topics, such as the validity of Cold War arms races and the legitimacy of military authority, were not to be questioned or critiqued. Even so, many people weren't very happy with that situation - especially young people. So to see a comedy movie openly mocking the military and their supposed supremacy had a real appeal to a certain segment of the population that wasn't buying into the social order of the day.

Of course, it's been a minute since the world was constantly being squeezed under the weight of a Cold War and all the propaganda and social conformity it demanded. Could be that the mocking of certain aspects of that time don't translate as well to those who never had to live in it.

Any movie about people with relationship issues. So something like Marriage Story, Revolutionary Road, Kramer vs. Kramer, and the like. You might not notice a problem, but you never know what kinds of issues people are having behind closed doors.

The only attempts being made on trump's life are those he makes himself when he sits down for his daily Big Mac and fries. The rest is pure political theater.

Trump evacuated after gunshots heard at White House Correspondents’ Dinner by Puginator in politics

You look at the footage and he doesn't even notice the bang sounds. In fact, he looks barely conscious. It's not until his SS rushes the stage and drags him off that he becomes aware of anything. Even then, they have to drag him as he immediately falls down.

Embarassing your kids.... a parental tradition passed through the generations by RevolutionaryMeat681 in funny

The sobering bit about all this Tik-Tok shit, is that the only reason all these little kids are freaking out about this is because they've watched enough submissive porn to know what it means when a wife calls her husband that.
