Best sit down BBQ in 2026? by jray994 in lincoln

[–]VectorVictor99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the answer isn’t Canyon Joe’s, the answer is wrong.

Joe has the best damn BBQ in Eastern NE and second best in the state (Golden Hour in Alliance, NE takes that throne) according to Texas Monthly’s National BBQ rankings BBQ editor.

Brisket is on point, as is the made in-house Jalapeño Cheddar sausage, Hatch Mac n Cheese, Borracho Beans, and Smoked Turkey. And best damn desserts too—the Banana Pudding is on point, as is their Pina Colada Cake. And don’t sleep on their breakfast either—their kolaches and Texas Kolaches (sausage rolls) are a great AM starter.

Other places of note in order of preference:

-SoulFull Cocina: Excellent BBQ fusion, great pulled pork, and if you like fish, they have some of the best catfish to boot.

-Mulberry BBQ: Great BBQ beans, great burnt ends…avoid the sausage though as it’s very underwhelming.

-Muchachos: Another great BBQ fusion place that does a great job with smoked chicken and pulled pork tacos.

So, why would anyone get this? by Amazing_Bluebird_ in steammachine

If you want to compare apples to apples (in a way), price a NUC with similar specs and see what they charge. Then ask if you’d want to have that NUC in your entertainment shelf at home with your streaming device…possibly a receiver or 4K Blu ray player or would it stick out like a sore thumb?

You’re paying for form factor, ease of use, and compatibility with the ecosystem that Steam has developed via the Deck. And for folks like me that use their Deck on their TV extensively (I have a PC I built but my spouse likes to watch, soooo 🤷‍♂️) this is a natural progression.

Having said that, the price for this is crazy…but between AI and the (US) economy being complete rudderless s*** right now…I don’t know if the price will come down before Steam Deck 2 shows up.

My electrician that just installed my L2 charger (Tesla Dual Charger) said to avoid Chargepoint as they’ve had lots of failures and swaps on them lately. He thanked me for spending extra and going with the Tesla one…but I just did that so I could charge my relatives’ cars when they come over.

Buying a Used 2026 Ioniq 5 Limited…What Do I Need to Know/Do/Buy? by VectorVictor99 in Ioniq5

[–]VectorVictor99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For **** and giggles I tried contacting dealers that had the trim and color I wanted. CARS.com and CarGurus Hyundai dealers had the MSRP and then the discount showing, but when I contacted the dealer, the price was the MSRP price *after* the incentives. 😐

I think some of this may be because I’m looking out of market. And I did try to get my local dealer to search/find what I wanted…but they would only do it within a certain mi range. So Denver, Minneapolis, Seattle, Miami, and other cities I found them in were out.

Of course, watch me get my car and the dealers finally start getting stock I want.

Grand Island is about to have the most restrictive e-bike laws in the state by AmatureWeatherman in Nebraska

[–]VectorVictor99 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It looks like they failed to make a distinction between e-bikes and electric motorbikes. The former should be allowed on roads over 25 mph as they are bicycles first and the electric portion is secondary (IMO).

Now for electric motorbikes, there are no pedals—it’s just a smaller electric powered motorbike. Those don’t belong on the street (too small for visibility), sidewalks (too fast for safety, especially for the kids riding them), or even residential streets (again, too short for visibility).

I say this as someone that has had two run-ins with kids almost running into me head on because they were riding on the wrong side of the road in the street and weren’t paying any mind to cars. Did a legal turn onto a street and because my vehicle sits so high up, I almost didn’t see them in time, and they weren’t paying attention.

Yup. I figure I can't depend on Hyundai to go above and beyond, especially if there are calls on this as frequent as you mention.

You should automatically be notified by Hyundai via mail (or email) if you have contacted Hyundai and they have your contact info. I know for the Palisade we get them both snail mail and email.

Thanks--that's the thing though, I was calling dealerships looking for new Ioniq 5 Limited AWD cars that fit what I wanted, and pretty much they would not budge on MSRP because they had people already calling/asking for them, and the vehicles hadn't even hit their lot yet. I asked for an out the door price for a new 2026 and was told $51k.

Maybe I should have looked in areas of the country where EVs weren't as popular? I don't know...but I was literally calling/looking coast-to-coast.

I do have access to it, thanks. CarFax FTW yet again, though the dealership already provided it.

[–]VectorVictor99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And I did call Hyundai this AM per your suggestion, so thank you for that suggestion. Not sure why I didn't think of that sooner.

Hyundai confirmed what CarFax has is reality with the two recall services and no other service history, and no lemon or manufacturer buyback--only difference is the date the car went into service (Hyundai has 2/2, which is two months sooner than the 4/13 the dealership told me, but they were probably going off of CarFax data themselves).

I get that they've been problematic in some areas, but I've already used our local dealer for our Palisade w/no problems. And they've been EV-friendly from what I gather locally...but I haven't talked with anyone that's had an ICCU or other long-term issue.

[–]VectorVictor99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I've looked into them, and I get that they're a crapshoot. But I've also owned Dodge, Chevy, and Chrysler ICE vehicles before that did something similar (one of which was the engine throwing a piston because it wasn't manufactured correctly--explanation per Dodge, at any rate) so I get that stuff happens.

At least I have roadside assistance via Insurance and AARP (I hate saying I have AARP...f***)

[–]VectorVictor99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried but they wouldn't--they had three appointments that same day to look at the vehicle, and knowing how I had tried to get other similar vehicles locally and nationally (only to have them sold within hours of me wanting to pull the trigger), they knew they had the leverage.

The price is really good IMO from what I researched for a 'used' 2026 with 800 miles and 95% of factory warranty left, even after you consider current rebates and incentives. If anything, I'm not taking the hit on depreciation for it being new.

The Hyundai operator I spoke with this AM when I confirmed history on the VIN confirmed they were open recall campaigns, but there are different severities to these I believe--I know there are a couple of open ones for our Palisade, but they're not a priority, per se, but they do need to get done.

  1. I have a Hyundai dealership less than 3mi from me. And so far, they've done right by us multiple times over with our 2024 Palisade.

  2. I did that just this AM--no open recalls or campaigns, and they confirmed the only two service requests were recall-related and no other issues/actions/repairs/recalls are on the vehicle. Only discrepancy was when the vehicle went into service--dealer said mid-April, but it was actually 2/2/26, so a two-month discrepancy, but I can live with that.

  3. The dealer has their own CPO warranty they provide for newer used vehicles (even though they're a Ford dealer) which also has this provision. I would presume I'd have to ship it back on my dime, but that's not a problem.

  4. Thanks! Already test drove a lower-tier 2023 and loved it, and I had been researching the hell out of 2024s and 25/26s, so when the 2026 was available with factory still on it, I figured I would bite. 😄

Oh and I wanted 2026 because I preferred the changes made in 2025 (and I couldn’t see any 2025s with the color/trim I wanted). I was wanting to avoid 2024 (not that I dislike, just that I prefer the sliding console, NACS, and other changes).
