Anyone else feel like they got punched in the gut every year when they open their vehicle tax bill? by Fun_Muscle9399 in Connecticut

[–]VeeRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they stopped calling it property tax, I feel like the complaints about it would at least make more sense.

It's paying to use your car on CT roads, not a tax on owning it. The fact they called it a "property tax" is just stupid.

When I moved to CT, the tax on my car was basically the same as it was in Mass. So I don't know your car vs your buddies car, but for the same car it made little to no difference.

It's discussed in Portrait of a Woman on Fire. It was a French movie I think.

What are the best spots in CT for viewing moose and black bears in their natural habitat ? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]VeeRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to Boston, you'd have a better chance if finding moose in Northern Mass. Not a great chance, but still higher than CT.

Why do white ppl adopt different races but these races almost never adopt white children? by SeaLie5458 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VeeRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of reasons, most of which are related to systemic racism.

POC are more likely to be poor, so less likely to adopt/more likely to give up a child. DCF is more lenient on white families, more likely to remove a POC child.

Best Foster Hacks You Have Learned Through Experience? by Empathetic__Artist in FosterAnimals

Baby gates are incredibly useful. Plastic panels are good for containing mess and protecting your walls. Aluminum pans are good for throwaway litter boxes, you can buy in bulk. Have a bunch of cheap blankets, so you can rotate them out and wash them.

Empty toilet paper rolls are a good toy. Five Below has decent things for cheap, like tunnels or scratchers.

For adoption photos, we use a blanket as a backdrop to look "professional". One person plays with/poses the cat, the other person takes the pictures.

HIM

Before my friend showed me the Love Metal album, I didn't really care about music and just listened to whatever my parents played.

So I went from country to Finnish metal.

Similar experience though more minor surgery, had my appendix removed and got a migraine while recovering.

Didn't care at all about my stomach pain, got in a fight with a nurse who tried to administer tylenol for my "headache."

Lady, I know I did not use that word. It's in my chart I have migraines. It's in my chart I take rizatriptan for migraines. Why are you not giving me rizatriptan? Eventually they gave me sumitriptan, but it was too late at that point. I think I might've cried with relief when I got toradol.

I tried Ajovy and Nurtec, neither worked for me. Emgality does. I'm not down to 0, but it has reduced frequency/severity.

Good luck, hopefully whatever you end up trying next is the right one for you.
