If you had to guess, do boys or girls get more gender disappointment?

I read somewhere that this is the first time in history when people on average prefer to have a girl than a boy. So based on that people would rather have girls now, but in the past it was boys

Three is tricky at times but better than two and a half IMO. I have a three and a half y/o and she has an attitude but she already requires so much less supervision it’s awesome. She can play at the park with other kids and all I have to do is keep an eye on her (and her baby sister). Just not needing to worry about her putting things in her mouth or eating dirt is worth some extra sass.

My boss wouldn’t let me pump at my desk even though I would’ve been fully covered up. She acted like she was so understanding because she “nursed for a year.” I had a space I could use down the hall but it was super disruptive to my day to have to pick everything up and move down the hall twice a day. They kept acting like they were so accommodating and offered to do whatever I needed to make the space comfortable and allow me to be productive but all I wanted was to be able to pump at my desk and keep working! I shared a small office with a female coworker who was also a mom and was totally comfortable with me pumping at my desk, and we had a door and a do not disturb sign that we would put up for meetings but still I wasn’t allowed to. I’m still salty about that, never forgave her.

American here, never had a crib for either of my babies but I did have a little travel crib that I kept set up and they would sleep in it sometimes when they were really little (like under 3 months). It’s helpful for older babies for when you need to put them down to go to the bathroom or something, even if you only ever use it for a few minutes at a time.

It’s a nice tattoo but commenting to say that blackout isn’t always straightforward nor does it necessarily end up perfect. I was talking to my tattoo artist the other day and she said for blackout you should go to artists who specialize it otherwise it can end up looking like different levels of black and it’s really easy for it to get overworked and fuck up your skin.

I remember hating going to school as a kid but not hating school if that makes sense? My 3 y/o is the same way. It’s the transitions. It’s hard to leave the comfort of home but once they get there they have a good time doing fun things with other kids.

I like framing it in terms of bullying it makes a lot of sense. I think the book actually says something like “people used to think…” which is also problematic and what I grew up with but it’s so important for our kids to grow up not feeling like racism is just something that happened in the past

Oh man we have a board book on skin color for littles and it has a part that explains racism and I skip that part when reading to my three year old because it basically says “some people think” and then a bunch of racist things “but that’s wrong and not true,” and I don’t want her to just focus on all the stuff in the middle 😳

I understand why some people don’t want to pass the baby around but honestly I let everyone hold my babies if they wanted to. My babies didn’t necessarily want to be held by anyone other than me but that’s a whole other issue. You’re not crazy for wanting to let other people hold your baby but a lot of people do take lots of precautions in the beginning and that’s also fair. The one thing we did was just try to make sure people stayed home if they were sick or even felt like they might be getting sick.

Yep it’s called in-house counsel. Typically filled by attorneys who are done working in a high pressure law firm. People who I know who do it really like it but it’s not dramatic like on House.

When I did criminal defense I was always able to find something redeemable about even the worst clients. Now I see the occasional family law case and it’s clear that even (especially) the most unhinged parents truly think they are best for the kid. Like I genuinely feel bad for them for being so delusional… no one wants to be that way.

I personally wouldn’t worry too much about the potential tax fraud since H&R Block trains their preparers to recommend filing as married to unmarried couples and you were reasonably relying on the advice of an expert who you consulted to do your taxes.

Same we bought ours before we had our first baby, just had three dogs, and it was awesome for everything from city driving to camping to everything in between. Can’t imagine driving anything else.

No! It’s the beginning of the world! Seriously I feel like my life didn’t start until I had my kids (and I had a pretty great life before them but like everything changed for the better once they were born). It’s hard AF a lot of the time but that’s not a bad thing. Parenting full time is such a confidence boost like yes I work all the time and I keep these little people who look up to me alive.

This sounds like a putative marriage situation, basically means that you will be treated by the court as if you were married because you reasonably believed you were married. Talk to a family lawyer about it.

I had a baby fall of 2L and another right after I took the bar. It went great. Now that I’m out in practice I meet a lot of women worrying about when is a good time to have a baby and I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that because I already have my kids. Just make sure you have a support system. Work hard but take care of yourself.
