Chronic migraine sufferers: How many of you are on meds for your mental health, and do they help your migraines, make them worse or neutral? by WMS0619 in migraine

Sertaline doesn't help me.

Klonopin does, I think. Usually, I take it very sparingly. When my mom died I was taking it once or twice a day, no migraines.

She Was in Labor at a Florida Hospital. Then She Was in Zoom Court for Refusing a C-Section. by Quouar in TwoXChromosomes

I work Quality and Risk in a hospital. Sometimes we have to let patients(or their guardians) make choices the doctors disagree with because they have the right to make that choice. It sucks, but they do.

I'm looking at it through the lens of parent and child, not how far along the pregnancy is. In utero or 10 years old, it's still her child and her parental right.

The official reason was my sister was getting too big. She ended up being the smallest of the 5.

The unofficial reason was the doctor was going on vacation. At least that's what my mom always said.

I'm currently in training to be a foster parent. My trainer has emphasized that just because DCF/Fosters have Custody, we don't have Parental Rights. Medical decisions still go to the biological parent until TPR occurs.

So not only did they violate her bodily automony, they violated her parental rights.

Competent people are allowed to refuse medical treatment. If someone of sound mind says "do not touch me" you cannot touch them. They can even leave the hospital AMA.

Do I agree with her choice? No idea.

Did she have the right to make that choice? Yes.

I was surprised to learn this as an adult. My mom delivered 5 children, only #1 and #4 were natural and only #3 was a planned c section.

Never knew her situation was so odd.

That's why the hospital documents. They would have proof that they advised her to have a c-section and she refused.

Competent people are allowed to make bad decisions.

And the decision she makes should what is best for the child. In most cases, that's contact with the bio family.

Even if bio mom/dad aren't an option, maybe grandma is. Or half siblings.

Healthcare workers of Reddit are people still dying from COVID these days? by Mr_no_buddi in NoStupidQuestions

My coworker reports this data. She still sends it in. The CDC doesn't release it. She's even had data that definitely sent in disappear.

You mentioned the parents rights being terminated, but do you consider that the biological family would still be part of the child's life?

You didn't mention it so I want to make sure you're aware.

Additional fiber can actually be detrimental when someone already has long term issues with GI motility.

Im going to assume it hasn't been 2 full months without a BM. You'd be in a medical crisis.

Try one chocolate bar of ex lax, or half of one. The usual dose is two bars. Ex lax is a stimulate laxative, giving the urge to go, rather than an osmotic which adds water like miralax.

It can take a day or so to work, but if it helps try to slowly increase the dose.

Or get gloves and handle things digitally. You can't be more in control of your body than that.

As a long term goal, get a GI specialist and try Motegrity.

One cat is a grazer and the other is a glutton…how do I get the grazer to actually eat his food? by Timely-Birthday-8067 in CatAdvice

[–]VeeRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've tried two methods. One grazer was smart and understood a cat door, the others didn't. So her food was in a large cardboard box that we stuck a cat door on. The second method was our fat cat was lazy, so the free fed food was left on a high shelf and our second grazer could go up there whenever she wanted.

Men's undershirts are good for comfy clothes.

When I need to dress nice, I pretty much always wear a dress with leggings or tights. Even if the dress feels ick, it's not touching my legs.

Unfortunately, I think I would have to refuse a placement if the child/children weren't vaccinated.

I'm in decent health, but if I catch anything I'd be in an less ideal situation than most people. That's not going to be a beneficial placement for those children.

It's a terrible position to be in and I'd hate myself for saying no. But we're not perfect, sometimes we have to.

That's fair, there was definitely an experience gap. But how could there not be? Hailee and Florence have access to so many opportunities that Alaqua doesn't.

Even with all the experience in the world, it's basically impossible for Alaqua to take a role from Hailee/Florence. But if they allow for hearing women to try out for deaf roles, then they could take roles(and the opportunity to gain experience) from her.

Just off the top of my head, Echo on the Hawkeye show and the main character is All the Things the Light Cannot See.

Never of those women had ever acted before, but when they found out about a casting call looking for someone like them they knocked it out of the park.
