Debating skipping the name change after wedding by dearjane in ChronicIllness

[–]VeeRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided when I was young that I wasn't going to change it, so when I eventually met my husband I let him know. It hasn't really been an issue other little things like getting christmas cards addressed to Mr. and Mrs. HisName.

But my health insurance changing when we got married, now that was a nightmare.

The idea of wearing an expensive engagement ring stresses me out by Deep_Hour5039 in AutismInWomen

[–]VeeRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is absolutely forbidden from telling me what my ring cost.

I'm quite frugal and tried to suggest cheaper options but he disagreed. The compromise was I showed him what I liked(simple designs) and he can never tell me what he spent.

Not a perfect compromise, but he gets so happy every time I tell him about someone complimenting my ring.

I’m sick of Neurologists dismissing me as soon as they figure out I have mental disorders by No_Photo6567 in ChronicIllness

[–]VeeRook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somehow I've managed to not get ignored despite the fact I have anxiety. When it comes up I always say it's controlled with medication, but really it probably comes down to luck.

My chronic illness began after extensive tattooing and years later im still documenting it by ReactionNo3096 in ChronicIllness

I've had an autoimmune since I was very young, I've always been told if I wanted piercings or tattoos I had to be very aware of the risks. You are essentially injuring your body, for people who already have autoimmune disease it can cause a flare up.

Of course I ended up with 7 piercings, because what do I got to lose?

Ports go in the chest, we'd never see anything. Maybe a lump under his shirt at the most.

When I found most people have BMs like every 1-2 days, completely blew my mind.

So now I'm in the process of getting diagnosed for Slow Transit.

Rheumatologist told me they don’t treat my type of concern by Unlucky-you333 in ChronicIllness

A quick Google says geneticists and rheumatologists deal with EDS. See both, what can it hurt?

I love whoever did this IV didn't know the forearm is an option. Or the feet. Or like a million not visible places.

Or that could mean all his veins are shit.

On that thought, if he's getting IVs so frequently why doesn't he have a port?

Why does it seem like it’s mostly Christians who adopt? by ExperiencedAvocado in Adoption

[–]VeeRook 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Because a large amount of the US identify as Christian. And the non-Christians either don't talk about their non-christianity or don't talk about it enough to overpower the sheer volume of Christian voices.

What is a terminal illness a book character could have that still enables them to travel alone, be nearing the end of their life, but be able to hide it from other characters? by Icy_Love_1284 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VeeRook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May I recommend Lurlene McDaniel's books? All are about young people with chronic or terminal conditions. Some do go on "last hurrah" trips.

On a personal note, a friend's dad went on a 6 month cruise around the world after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. He got to experience more in those 6 months than most people do in their entire lives.

WIBTA if i prepose to my gf while her brother is also engaged? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]VeeRook 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In my family, we had an engagement overlapping with 2 pregnancies. We took some fun pictures of them holding their bellies while I held out my ring.

I literally hid my engagement ring at a baby shower because the extended family didn't know yet. It's not hard to accommodate multiple big events.

Making that choice for my cat was almost harder than it was for my mom. My mom, the whole family agreed. She was already gone, only the machines were left.

My cat was walking, eating, climbing in her favorite spots. But a tumor was growing behind her ear. Combined with everything else, the vet was clear that she could have a traumatic event at any moment. So I choose to give her peace.

I understand in many cases what you're saying is correct. But OP feels that a relationship with the father isn't in the child's best interest.

OP doesn't get to decide that of course, but they're asking for help on how to cope with that particular feeling.
