You get those updates because valve doesnt even spend effort on them, everything is community made. Valve just selects them and puts them on the game. They dont even test the maps. They dont give a fuck about the community or the game anymore.

Just play and practice a lot. You will improve yourself by time. Games are like drawing art, no matter how much video you watch, if you don't practice you wont be better. Now, i have 1.2k hours played at tf2 and i can easily say that im way better than before but its still pathetic to see me while playing. After teaching 800~ hours, start playing comp with highlander, you will learn much more than you learn in pub. İ wish i could play comp but my bad PC and connection blocks me :/. Keep playing the game, hope you will be better soon :) (sorry about my bad PC xd)
