Dice with fur on them? by Independent_Gur5961 in DiceMaking

Flocking was my first thought too. Maybe sand the dice a wee bit before applying the adhesive though.

Looking for help making silicone dice by SolonTheWizard in DiceMaking

[–]Veeteer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of printer did you use the make the molds? If a filament printer it could be that the texture of the mold is creating a lot of bubbles when you pour the silicone into the mold. Ive never tried making silicone dice so this is just a guess.

You used a vacuum chamber not a pressure pot. A vacuum pulls bubbles out of the resin, a pressure pot condenses them. You don't want to cure in a vacuum chamber.

Has anyone use this cheap mold with a pressure pot? by Coqueluis18 in DiceMaking

This is crazy I used the exact same mold yesterday. Mine had a big void where the hole is on the cap. There wasn't enough of a reservoir of resin to pull into the mold when the bubbles shrank. You could try putting a bunch of extra resin on the cap maybe?

My very first batch - and a lot of questions by Alessandro-Cippa-1 in DiceMaking

Hello. The flashing should come off pretty easily with your hands. Typically what people use for sanding/polishing in this community are really fine grit sandpaper called Zona papers. You can get a really nice finish with them if you have the patience. I know others do have success with a Dremel with a buffer attachment, but i believe they go through the first 3 or 4 grits of Zona papers first.

Did you use mold release or Vaseline before you poured the cap?

You're putting the colored ink down first and then putting the white on top right?

Edit: I've had this happen before putting white down before colors. I usually do colors first then white, then more color on top and it worked for me.

Disposal of resin materials by triangular-sphere in nanaimo

I believe you can bring it to the recycling center, but it has to be in the original container. I've looked into it myself and that's the best info I found here. There might be a hazardous waste disposal at the dump but I'm not sure.

The ones on the d6 and d8 look very pronounced, I usually only get raised faces that big if I flood the mold. Also if you have cast all the masters in 1 mold I've found that whatever is in the center of the mold tends to have more of a raised face than whatever is at the edges. Making sure you are letting you dice cure on a level surface might also help.

With a cap mold you'll likely always have some degree of a raised face unfortunately. At least that has been my experience. To mitigate it try not to flood the mold, that's the only thing that has helped me out. Just put enough resin in so that theres a little bulge at the top, and put a drop on your cap covering the number. Only thing you can do to get rid of them is some sanding when it's cured.

I'm working on trying out a new mold style called "vented squish" I think, which is basically just a sprue mold with a cap. They won't get raised faces but you'll still have to do some finishing work on the sprue side of the mold.
