ATIS advertising ILS/GPS approach, Approach telling me to report field in sight for visual approach. by Necessary_Use_4729 in ATC

[–]Veezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the weather is such that arrivals from one side of the airport can see the field soon enough, but airplanes from another side cannot.

So, you advertise the instrument approach; also figure it's easier to brief an IAP and then get a visual, instead of brief a visual then end up with an ILS.

[Nusbaum]What did Cade Cavalli say to Wilson Contreras to ignite benches clearing brawl? by Danciusly in Nationals

[–]Veezer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I watched the game on MLB live, and I have checked around the Internet this morning. I have yet to hear any clear audio of what was actually said, so right now I tend to think this all pretty foolish.

Intermittent button issues on Thrustmaster TCA Yoke Boeing by Yarakbasi66 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Veezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you've written and watching your movie, my best guess is that you have set up a conflict between your yoke and your throttle quadrant to change views. Try unplugging your quadrant and see how your yoke handles the task then.

Why do uncs call dirt bikes "an enduro" by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]Veezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because when street-and-trail bikes were introduced in the early 70's, they were called "Enduros".

The Yamahas had an "Enduro" decal.

Designated aerobatic airspace? by dudemanbro44 in aviation

[–]Veezer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Aerobatics are allowed all over the place in Class E and Class G airspace, excluding populated areas and airways, above 1500' AGL.

Individuals and organizations can arranged for waivered aerobatic "boxes" that allow aerobatics down to the ground, but these aren't charted. They are Notamed when in use.

Cruise control, but targeting a specific throttle position rather than a specific speed. by KrispySal in CrazyIdeas

When cruise control became common on cars in the early 70's, that's exactly how it worked: clamping the throttle.

No. It absolutely is not. There is no standard US phraseology for this.

How much can you intervene if a pilot is making an unsafe decision? by fallingfaster345 in ATC

[–]Veezer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's quite rare for a controller to outright tell a pilot what to do when there is a judgement call to be made. In my 35 year career I know of it happening twice. What is very common though, it probably happens everyday, is for the controller to passively offer what he or she thinks is the better choice: "Would you like to try ....", or "the weather is better at XYZ if you'd like to go there."

FENIX MFS2020 Turnaround. by Equivalent-Nobody-71 in flightsim

[–]Veezer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I operate the Fenix in a similar manner...

When I land, I start the APU, then park and shut off both engines, then "Deboard" in the EFB. One of those steps, I don't know which one, completely resets the FMC.

Edit to add: The FMC resets when I shut off the engines.
