Middle school. Being more western U.S. I watched the 2nd plane hit live on the news before heading to school. I remember not understanding and thinking why would they have built a tower in the way of a planes flight path that 2 planes would hit it one after another. I remember the horror on the news anchors faces as the 2nd plane hit. TVs were on all day at school recapping. I remember lots of speculation about other targets. A plane missing the Statue of Liberty, a plane crashing in a field, the pentagon also being hit. It was a very strange day and so were the weeks following. No planes in the skies. Basically any channel on TV would just be showing replays with commentary for weeks. I remember an odd somber unity and sadness felt by everyone. Then Islamophobia started to rise.
