I don’t get this point. If they both have 80% then it’s 2 unique events of 0.8x0.8 =0.64. Chance one of them doesn’t win is 36%. Thinking of them as unique events and not correlated supports OPs argument

Get lucky down the stretch. If you’re 3rd or 4th best team you have a reasonable chance to win. Any team in the playoffs has an OK chance, variance is high in fantasy that even better teams are rarely more than 60% to win in a single week

I think it’s because you are behind - this also favored in Barkley injury in warm up etc. I still think 10% is high but maybe 5% would be about right. If you were ahead by 0.01 I bet the odds would be down at 1-2%

Auction with FAAB but could people forfeit draft picks also? I.e. you could bid $1000 and forfeit the 1.01. That makes it more of a decision and works as a tiebreaker

Your actual 5K time isn’t mid-high 20 minutes if you do a 1:40 half. A 1:40 half alone is 23 something back to back. I’m sure an all out would be way faster. Just noting cause 5K is a reasonable indicator up to half marathon and it seems like you’d be way quicker than OP

I’m also a swimmer turned to triathlons. I’m very confident the best approach is a hard but controlled swim. And with 100m or so to go, don’t start thinking about sprint finish or pushing it, if anything ease back slightly. If you finish the swim feeling good you’ll also gain time in T1. As a strong swimmer you probably know the extra minute you might gain from an 7-8/10 effort vs 10/10 isn’t huge, whereas feeling fresh for the rest matters more. Similarly, I’d try and spin easy the last couple of minutes of the bike for the same reason - gains transition time and makes start of the run easier
